Multi Culti’s lucid-lifestyle dreamer Peter Power takes us on a free-wheeling trip to the motherland on AFRO DAMBA.

The Irish-born Voodoohop resident has returned from the jungles of Bahia with a fresh ep of primal party tracks sampling voices and rhythms from across Africa and it’s neighbouring islands, producing what is easily his most club-oriented work to date. Whereas his tracks for Voodoohop were spiritual flute-heart-openers, these are neo-pagan mating-ritual floor-fillers. The rhythm is set to tribal chug, with rollicking percussion, reverb-soaked vocals, and all the fun jangly bells & bits you expect to be hanging off such a well-traveled producer.

If that weren’t enough, we enlisted Romanian-dance-duo Khidja to double-down and remix both Adama Waro and Dansakoni (available as a digital-exclusive). Resident mix-lord Dreems also weighs in with a subtle remix of Dansakoni, gently upping the tempo and tweaking the knobs in selfless service of the original groove.

Release number 7 and final one on 2017 for Balearic Social Recordings and hot on the heels of Mori Ra's two ep's in the summer, Mushrooms Project deliver two wonderful tracks in the shape of Motolani & Chillin'dretti. Motolani is a travel through the darkest aztec jungle of the highest cosmic reaches. Clocking in at over 10 mins long you can be forgiven for losing your surroundings whilst you float through 11 minutes of cosmic bliss. Chillin'dretti picks up the baton of ritual chants and a more uptempo ride as we reach darkness and the light of the stars shine through what was once the sunshine is now just a distant memory as we dance the night away.

Mushrooms Project will also be playing the record launch party in Leeds on Sat 4th Nov at Wharf Chambers in Leeds.

The third release of Alma Negra Records' '12 Rhythms' series is dedicated to the music of Eritrea, a small (in African terms, that is) country nestled in between Sudan and Ethopia on the south end of the Red Sea. Drawing from its native spiritual roots as well as the Christian and Islamic influences of conquering factions, this multi-ethnic country is home to a truly diverse plethora of cultures and musical styles. 
"On this EP, we are happy to showcase the music of the Saho People from the Region of Zula, which is located in between the coastal lowlands close to the Dahlak archipelago. The word “Saho“ roughly translates) as “Nomad“, pointing towards a lifestyle in which tradition and culture are passed on orally over generations. 
"As such, the exact source for these edits of the Saho Sound are lost to the murky depths of history, as they are based on traditional folk songs. With kind permission of Colophon Records, we were able to work on this material and are now very happy to shed some light on the wonderful music of this region and its people!"

"Complete with that a unifying clarion call to party, known as the ‘ululate trill’, this is again a call & response vocal pattern, seemingly at odds with the somber backing track. Exploring a deeper, jazzier mood, we added moody piano chords and a balafon, with a subtle but powerful bassline, along with some hefty 808-thud holding everything together."
