I got an Octatrack to go with my Rytm and Digitone with a keyboard controller. Getting any sound from the Octatrack was harder than expected (box opening day!); I finally managed to setup some Thru tracks with the external ins from the other devices.  Recorded with my 1010 BlueBox, added ittle eq and volume leveling in Ableton.

These weeks have been tough, due both to global emotional strain and personal emotional strain. In these times, music and dance has served me as ritual release. A container to process my thoughts and feelings.

Moving meditation.

In the absence of this outlet I'm finding myself spending weekends engaging with music at home, mixing for hours not to serve others but to create the same container for myself.

This set is the first in a series I'll be sharing while the clubs are shut. These mixes will serve a different purpose to club sets. They'll be primarily about relaxed music exploration rather than working critically to deliver a unique message to an audience. I'll allow myself to replay songs, play older or more popular songs, and be more forgiving of mistakes in mixing.

Loosening these constraints will allow me to share significantly more music and explore different aspects of DJing. These sets will be extended (2-6 hours), spanning a more patient arc and more variation in genre than a typical club set. I'll be sharing more weird and interesting music that might not work on a dance floor.

I’ll also be experimenting with various formats of hybrid and live sets, integrating sounds and songs I’ve been creating in Ableton via a Xone K2 and APC 40.  

I'm excited to see where this leads and to build a more consistent cadence of releasing mixes in the absence of shows at clubs. I hope this music can help a few others out there find solace in these times.

Moving Meditation

Some of my favourite songs to listen in sound journey at the end of a ceremony. Just to sit back and enjoy the beautiful sounds and make sure you have a good sound system :). I've left gaps in between songs so we can process the previous prayer with at least a few seconds gap.
