The theme for the first ever OSTCompJam is "a journey to remember." and/or the picture on the album cover (participants are allowed to choose from the two).

The Willow

Here's a little OST for an imaginary journey... and game!
My entry for the OST Composing Jam 2021.

I decided to create the soundtrack for a little imaginary JRPG, probably a narrative JRPG, where the story is even more important than the game mechanics or the length of the game itself.
And I also decided to make it sound retro, as the graphic from the image suggests. But not usual 8-bit or 16-bit chiptune, but instead something that would come straight from the late nineties, something like EverQuest, or a role-playing game where the soundtrack is pure General Midi and not CD quality audio (so imagine the sounds coming from a Creative Sound Blaster audio card installed on your amazing Pentium computer :) ).

A Journey To Remember (OST Composing Jam)

Soundtrack of a fictional game done for a one week music jam. 

The theme was "a jouney to remember", and I built this idea of a little  corsair girl sailing through different locations of the Mediterranean , where European, African and Asian lands converge and await to be explored.

The trip starts in Huelva ,Spain, and goes around the coast to other locations like Palermo, Alejandria and Estambul, each with its unique music and story to tell.

As you wander the Willow, you realize something is off. There are missing segments of tree, plants and shrubs are melting. As you explore, the Willow slowly becomes more corrupt. You reach the end and all the trees are twisted. In a long corridor of trees, you see a horrifically creepy clown staring you down.

The Clown

A Journey To Remember - Title Screen

Your vision returns to darkness, lingering with the face of the clown. You just came across your Lucid Nightmare, a figure who can represent any and all of your fears. The reprise of Coma plays, reminding you that this is not reality, and that you can overcome your fears in your nightmares.

Coma (Reprise)

As you regain sight again, you are greeted by a shadowy figure. The figure morphs into the clown you had just encountered, as well as many other creepy figures. You must take on your Lucid Nightmare in order to defeat your fears, and regain consciousness in the real world.

Final Encounter

My entry for the 2021 OST Composing Jam, with the theme "A Journey to Remember".

This soundtrack follows a lone adventurer, drawn to the call of the great Monolith out in the desert wastes, far from civilization.

These songs feature classical guitar, orchestral instruments, and an eclectic mix of folk instruments ranging from Taiko drums to the Erhu. I wanted to capture a dark, brooding sound that still felt adventurous, and was very inspired by soundtracks like Hades, Dead Cells, and Blasphemous. Enjoy!
