The Internet

As a song indirectly about nation-building but directly about the eye-brow raising freedoms that linger in the aftermath of building western democratic countries like Canada, centuries later its citizens patterned a new way forward for Canada: creating an ever changing definition of itself, year after year. But is the sustainable nature of a democratic nation conducive enough to construct one shared identity today, all this time later? Should citizens have 'stock' in domestic and international matters to an extent? Can the terms and conditions of our national history of blood, sacrifice, negotiation and compromise, lies and untruths, and follow-throughs of success and admiration be rewritten?

THP questions the assumptions left suspended in time. As a nation and as an entity which has continued along the path of walking a fine line between generosity and greed, war and peace, Canada takes center stage in this number. The lyrics twist and turn in typical THP fashion while incorporating and highlighting symbolisms and old world primeval notions of growth within a context akin to the development of democracies. Long Way Down uniquely conveys the significance of our national colours (red and white), the effects of togetherness and solitude, and giving voice to those who have served, built, fought for and defended our nation.

The song blends ethereal guitars, restrained percussion, and weary vocals into a slow descent — equal parts surreal and grounded, peaceful and unsettling.

Flickers

"Ammonite" is the latest single from our upcoming album Back To Land (2025). A captivating blend of indie-folk and Americana, it features Lewis' heartfelt lead vocals, with a rich tapestry of harmonies from Sam. The track combines strummed acoustic guitar, tremolo electric guitar, banjo, and percussion, creating a sound that's both intimate and uplifting. Lyrically, "Ammonite" explores themes of love after loss, breaking free from grief, and finding hope in the light. Drawing upon contemporary folk, indie, and country influences, the song is perfect for indie-folk and Americana playlists and radio stations.

'Fungus' is about enabling toxic behaviour to the point it changes you and others, then holding on to bitterness and resentment that has grown as a result. 
'Fungus' will be one of five songs in an EP I intend to release in 2026 called 'Octopoda'. The project's focal point is holding on. Sometimes it is good to hold on and sometimes it is not. Sometimes you change yourself so that you can continue to hold on, but it comes at an expense. You might hold on to bad memories that make you feel bitter or sick, but you can't help it. Other times you hold on because it brings you happiness, for example a fond memory of somebody who is no longer with us.
I've called the EP  'Octopoda' because octopuses  are known for resilience, the ability to adapt, deceive, change shape and camouflage. To add to this, the obvious would be their tentacles and strong grip, which goes with the theme of holding on.
