Berimbau

It's about a dark slimy cave, bats, night creatures and beyond. Very special usage of 8 stringed electric guitar helps to narrating.

An ambient texture for electronics and electric guitar. It adds ambiguity for simple pentatonic melodies and changed it's form in temporal domain.

It's about simple motifs of middle age's Anatolia. I used for acoustic sounds live instruments such as melody harp, trumpet, prepared electric guitar. The piece has three parts. In the last part you can sense clash between pulsation and timelessness.

Alper Yakin has started to play guitar in his childhood. He took music theory and classical guitar lessons during his gymnasium and high school years. After completing certificate program about classical guitar then he started to giving classes at Arts Society Centre of his hometown which is very close to metropolitan city Istanbul. Then he attended to Pera Fine Arts Istanbul’s guitar and music theory program in 2004 and he won a scholarship under the framework of “E.U. Leonardo da Vinci Education Project’ for studying flamenco at Madrid. He studied flamenco guitar and flamenco history with Rafael Riquieni, Agustin Carbonell Serrano and Joaquin Juan at Amor de Dios Flamenco School. After turning back to Istanbul, he started to play with several music bands and his ‘jazz interest' ignited. He started his jazz study with pianist Aydin Esen in 2007 at his private school. His ensemble studied jazz theory and ensemble classes with Esen and played for national jazz festivals (including Istanbul Jazz Festival). Same year he attented to Berklee College Of Music Summer School at Umbria. He studied jazz guitar with Jon Damian, Jim Kelly and also ensemble with other Berklee proffessors from different branches. Between 2007 and 2010 he played lots of gigs with his trio and other bands, also played for his solo project called ‘world guitarist’. This concept actually is a guitar recital which includes world guitar music examples with explanations. He’s still doing this concerts with wide range of guitar kinds such as electric, classical - flamenco, baritone acoustic, fretless and microtonal guitar. He accepted by University of Music and Performance Vienna to Electro-Acoustic Institute post graduate program by Prof. Dr. Karlheinz Essl after completing his composition master study at Istanbul Technical University in 2013. Since then he lives and plays gigs, gives lesson and workshops around Vienna. Also he works for different music recording projects with his current bands called Sixthings (Jazz - Electronic), Sarah&Alper Duo (Flamenco - Austrian folk), Versatile (world) Guitarist (solo).
