Above & Beyond and long-time collaborator Justine Suissa share their first joint effort in over four years, ‘Almost Home’. 

‘Almost Home’ is Above & Beyond’s first club track of 2021, arriving just in time for their Group Therapy 450 milestone show at The Drumsheds in London this September. ABGT450 is their first headline show in over a year, and will see the trio perform to an audience of more than 10,000 fans. Later in September, Above & Beyond embark on the Anjunafamily Reunion Tour, which visits major cities across the U.S.A. including sold-out stops at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Stanford’s Frost Amphitheater and the world-famous Echostage in D.C. 

Jono, Tony, Paavo and Justine have been working together since 2000 when they formed the group OceanLab. In 2008, they released their first and only album ‘Sirens Of The Sea’,a record that has gained near-mythical status among trance fans. More recently, Above & Beyond and Justine have collaborated on club hits like ‘Alright Now’, ‘Cold Feet’ and ‘Another Chance’, and emotive, downtempo records like ‘Little Something’. 

In 2016, Justine joined Above & Beyond during their sell-out ‘Acoustic II’ tour, which stopped at iconic venues including Royal Albert Hall in London and The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. 

“This is a track that we originally wrote with Justine some years ago. Like many musicians during lockdown, we buried ourselves in the studio and had plenty of time to pick through old ideas. ‘Almost Home’, with its ’80s production influences, caught our ear. We sent it across to Justine again, and she rewrote the second verse to reflect her feelings on it today - we won’t tell you what it’s about though, we’ll leave that for you to decide. This track started in quite a different form, so we’ve also done a Club Mix to bring it a bit more up-to-date. Since his remix of Ferry Tayle & Static Blue's Trapeze and Tritonal's Utopia, Arty has been the producer everyone wants, and subsequent remixes for the likes of the scenes biggest names, Above & Beyond, Kyau & Albert and Paul van Dyk, and his Beatport No. 1 remix of D-Mad on Enhanced Progressive has cemented his position at the top of the newcomers from the past year. Back on Enhanced Progressive with another brilliant Original, Arty turns out two versions of Twilight Tonight. The Original Mix falls in a similar vein to that of his last two EP's on Enhanced, whilst the Arty Remode vamps up the atmosphere with Arty's trademark power chords with rich pads and synths sending the emotion into orbit. Remixes come from two of Enhanced Prog's favourites, MoodFreak and D-Mad. MoodFreak makes a welcome return after a lengthy hiatus, and he doesn't disappoint as he pushes the track towards the progressive house pigeonhole with his sparkly synths and groovy bottom end. D-Mad rips up the rulebook and goes for an entirely fresh approach from his usual style, combining stabby synths and bleepy melodies with the wonkiest bassline we've heard in a while! Hey everyone, Arty here and I wanna share some thoughts with you that I've been living with for a while now.
First, thanks to all of you for being with me in this amazing musical journey, I just realized it's already been 9 years since I'm doing what I love the most and your support is the one of the few things that keeps me motivated and inspired, 
I appreciate it so much and I always will!
But I also appreciate the desire to explore myself in different musical styles, trying something new and pushing this idea forward all the time. Since the beginning of my career I've always been saying that I don't wanna stuck in one certain genre, and the reason is not because I don't like it anymore. The real reason that is for me as an artist, listening, getting inspired and making as much diverse music as possible is one of the things that helps my creativity and keeps me from being stagnated as a musician...which is the worst.
That's why at some point the music I was making has started to go further and further away from its original roots. 
Some of you accepted it, some if you didn't. Yet all of the records I made always came from my soul, whether it's trance, dance or pop. Over these years I've been always listening to your feedback. You might think that for an artist it's extremely easy to start ignoring his fans, their demands and just do what his heart or mind says. 
Well, it's not. And that's where idea of discovering new sound clashes with listener's voice and all of this happens in my head. "IN MY HEAD", so don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about it. Your feedback and support was always with me throughout this journey, but when some of my records didn't match your expectation, unconsciously I started to build this pressure on my shoulders and I started to compromise my music in an effort to make both me and my fans satisfied.
2016 was amazing year for me. It was a year of re-discovering myself as an artist and as a person as well, considering it took me a minute to get out of my album's routine and its aftermath, which was close to a nightmare. But the freedom afterwards felt like nothing else. I didn't feel myself so inspired and productive in a long time, and it was probably the first time I opened my eyes so wide. Closer to the end of last year I noticed how much my music was different from what I've done in the past, and I felt like I had been neglecting my long-time fans and it didn't feel fair. And that's how I came up with idea of bringing the Alpha 9 alias back. It gives me the freedom to not be bounded to a specific genre, allowing me to experiment and keep pushing my boundaries with Arty, while I can be as close as possible to my long-time fans using Alpha 9 moniker.
I remember myself as a 17 year old kid, running back home from university classes every day, absolutely blinded by just the idea of making music. No pressure from managers, labels or promoters, just pure passion. For the first time in a long time I feel like that kid again and I don't feel this pressure anymore.
Also I wanna make it really clear, although Alpha 9 is still me, it's a totally separate project from Arty, focused on totally different music. I'm taking Arty music further towards the dance scene, while Alpha 9 will be a progressive/trance oriented project, this applies to branding, releases and live sets.

PAUL VAN DYK & PIERRE PIENAAR – STRONGER TOGETHER 

Holiday flights are airborne, Ibiza’s floors are heaving, festival season’s in high gear and the weather, well, it seems to be done disgracing itself for now. Yes indeed, summer’s well and truly upon us. Something’s still amiss though and we reckon you’ve already put your finger on what that is! 

A hot-season embracing, see-you-down-the-front PvD floor-roar is what’s required and right on cue, everyone’s favourite trance vanguard drops one into July’s frame. (Didn’t seriously think he was going to leave you hanging, right?!) So break out yer summer clobber, lace up that clubbing rubber and get ready to have sun-season 2017 refined and thoroughly defined by the epic ‘Stronger Together’.

Without giving too much away, placing future talent in the spotlight will play a key part in Paul’s agenda over the next 12 months. That gets underway with his first side-by-side with the eminently gifted Pierre Pienaar. Through ‘Far Away’, and most recently ‘Higher State’, solo, Pierre’s already squared a number of sure-shot rockers into VANDIT’s net. Now the Namibian born-&-based producer is stepping up for his first PvD collab. 

Thematically, ‘Stronger Together’s centre of gravity remains close to the Spring-released uplifter ‘Touched By Heaven’. Instrumental to its core, Paul & Pierre construct a primetime-directed rhythm and tempo for the track. Those summertime sensibilities are writ 10ft large throughout, as the pair thread azure-ish harmonics, cursive synths and an absolute TKO of a mainline into its production. 

More lift than Boeing, greater thrust than Ferrari and purer summer sublimation than several rounds of mojitos, ‘Stronger Together’ is Trance to love on a cellular level. Best of all, it reaches Spotify and all good download shores today (21.07.17).
