"This project originated after discovering stacks of old family photographs, loosely bagged and fused together in the damp and soggy shed that once stood in my maternal grandparents’ back yard in the peak district.

Many of the images were inadvertently stripped, through the long process of soaking and separating them from their albums and wallets; those that didn’t completely perish (and many that did) took on abstract new shapes unrelated to those exposed onto the original film.

These images (and the tracks they accompany) have since taken on a greater weight and meaning to me in their embodiment of times, places and faces no longer around. They represent cloudy memories, branches of a family tree cut down and consigned to the past."

A junglist’s haze shrouds the muzzled braindance ballistics of Monologue, a musical partnership that pairs a 15-year friendship in drum-cutting with a keen flair for melody. 2022’s debut EP Acid Settee for YUKU set the scene, now Rua Sound helps prize open further trails along their introspective club voyage.

Superwave EP: 
Following up on the drops from Gyrofield and Tim Reaper, Low End Activist arrives on Best Intentions with four mutant workouts up-cycled from dormant projects and moulded into weighty, outer limits club gear.
 
Low End Activist is best known for his sizeable output across Sneaker Social Club, Peak Oil and his own LEA label, where he twists grime and dubstep structures to gnarly, tweaked soundscapes indebted to dystopian sci-fi and social realism. Stepping up to Kasra's Best Intentions label, he tries a different approach by combing back through his archives of samples and stems and piecing together tracks with a sharp, surgical intent. 
 
In a canny display of stop-start dynamics, the A side comes through resolutely moody between the minimal, eerie atmospherics of ‘Wave ’01 and the dislocated vocal trickery and half-step pressure of ‘Wave 02’. On ‘Wave ’03 you can hear the click and crunch of early days Perlon and the rudeboy swing of El B, while the drums on ‘Wave ’04 lock into the mechanical rotation of Gescom as a counterpoint to the enduring hardcore influence coursing underneath the surface of the track.

Ulterior Motives are proud to present a fresh set of versions derived from DJ Persuasion’s Moon Blues (Get Ill).

Dev/Null and Tim Reaper bring a dark, grime-inspired drum & bass workout to the track, featuring razor-sharp breaks and a late-night urban atmosphere.
Liftin’ Spirits (aka Ant Miles of Origin Unknown), donning his Ironic pseudonym for the first time in many years, provides a rolling VIP that stays close to the original but elevates it.
Friske, one of the most enigmatic artists in drum & bass today, who has remained firmly under the radar despite collaborations with artists like Goldie, offers a reflective, refined rendition reminiscent of Subject 13 and Arctix.
In addition to the three remixes, Persuasion adds a new track, Marked, which rounds off the EP with fierce drums and the “Demon Poetry” sample that inspired the NTS Radio show of the same name.
