Pünktlich zum Bandcamp Friday erscheint am 02. April 2021, zeitgleich zum 9-jährigen Jubiläum der Münchener Bassschmiede BREAK IT DOWN, eine neue EP von Cruel Culture & Kit Curse. Gute Nachrichten also für alle Fans zeitgeistiger Bassmusik, die hier traditionell mit intelligent-komplexer Soundtextur zu überzeugen weiß. Inspiration ist hier durchaus das Zeitgeschehen 2020/21 – wie sollte es auch anders sein. Es entsteht dabei ein beindruckend kreativer Ausdruck dunkler Gedanken und Stimmungen. Depression in Moll als Escape Strategie, als Verarbeitung, vielleicht auch als Heilmittel.

Just in time for Bandcamp Friday, a new EP by Cruel Culture & Kit Curse will be released on April 2nd 2021, coinciding with the 9th anniversary of the Munich bass company BREAK IT DOWN. Good news for all fans of contemporary bass music, which traditionally knows how to impress with its intelligent, complex sound texture. Inspirations are definitely the current events of 2020/21 - how could it be any different. The result is an impressively creative expression of dark thoughts and moods. Depression in minor key as an escape strategy, as a processing, perhaps also as a remedy.

Outlier for the freaks, 'Stray Thrills' amalgamates between the classicist EBM and futurist UK bass. Stumble through 'Pleasure Systems' with light sabres, wrangled beats and gun shots ricochetting off the walls in one heady disorientation. Then wander aimlessly into the warehouse at 170bpm with 'Mindless', led by twilight tones and menacing machines at every turn.

For two decades we have been trying to bring a fresh wind to the otherwise musically forgotten border gate of the three countries of the Czech Republic, Poland and Germany. And so, for this occasion of our 20th anniversary, we decided to create the music compilation that will at least partially map the atmosphere of the last 20 years. We have always focused on non-mainstream music and diversity in the genres of Autonomic Drum and Bass & Techno, so even though  it is a genre-different and varied compilation, all artists have one thing in common, and that is the SHOTGUN FESTIVAL.  The result is a compilation of 2x LP 12" vinyl with 12 songs by 12 artists.

Již dvě desetiletí se snažíme vnést svěží vítr do jinak hudebně zapomenuté hraniční brány tří zemí mezi Českem, Polskem a Německem. A tak jsme se ku příležitosti našeho 20. výročí rozhodli vytvořit hudební kompilaci, která tu atmosféru předešlých 20ti let alespoň částečně nastíní i u vás doma. Vždy jsme se zaměřovali na nemainstreamovou hudbu a rozmanitost v žánrech Autonomic Drum and Bassu & Techna. A Leč se jedná o žánrově odlišnou a pestrou kompilaci, jedno mají všichni umělci společné, a to je SHOTGUN FESTIVAL.  Výsledkem je kompilace 2x LP 12" vinyl s 12 skladbami od 12 umělců.

Continuing to blaze their trail through the lower depths of Drum & Bass, DJ Ink's Architecture imprint returns with 5 cuts of bottom swimming dubwise ruffage from Hungarian duo Apostroph. Influenced heavily by the minimalist aesthetic and ambient sound design of artists like Loxy & Resound, Instra:mental and ASC, Apostroph concoct their own visions of stripped back half step crafted for the dance floor or home listening.  

From the throbbing kicks and bongos of lead cut "Control", to the melancholy echo chamber melodies of "Delusion", their steely vision takes shape. Things take a more sinister turn with the eerie building tension of "Haunted", going further into the abyss with the lurking darkness of "Separated".  Rounding out the package on a high, massive woodblocks meet the churning undertow bassline of "Vacant", imparting a deep Junglist taint to the whole package.  Raw, weighty and essential.

Seattle-based DJ Scam joins the Seminal roster with two 'ardcore / jungle inspired cuts designed for maximum worries in the dance. 'Metaknight' leads off with icy pianos and fractured divas, colliding into a bubbling bassline with granular edits, while 'Saatchi' keeps it 160 with a deeper, jungle tekno vibe full of old Akai sampler tricks and breakbeat ruffige. A razor-sharp debut sure to smash the virtual rave-o-sphere and beyond as we imagine when we can dance together again.
