Rough take of an idea i've been kicking around. Melody is all over the place and reverby af but there you go.

Lyrics:

It's getting far too cold in winter Daphne
The summers sun it only goes so n  far.
I've lost a lot of women to the distance
But I've lost too many brothers to the war.

And there's gold in the mountain oh dear daphne.
there's diamonds in the river sure as stars.
But there's Boulder on my chest that stops me moving.
And the water slowly carves a hundred scars.

So I raise my eyes and gaze upon the heavens
But I've never quite felt eyes gaze back at me.
I never really broke the chains we're born with
That set so many simpler men so free.

And now lightning arcs the sky oh Daphne.
And thunder throws a hail of sparks at me.
As the rain and wind wrap it arms so tightly.
I marvel at how strong the storm can be.

But there's gold in these mountains oh dear daphne.
So I'll take a pick and lantern up with me.
And ill dig and dig and dig until I find it.
I'll reach the golden seam eventually.

Chords are Em G Cm7 for the verse bits and D Em Cm7 for the chorus bit.
