Neon Wasabi is based in Groningen and her cultural background combines the best of both the Western and Eastern worlds. Next to DJ-ing and practicing her love for music and dancing, she is also dreaming of space travel and the ways to realise it. As a kid, she used to (secretly) listen to her uncle's new age and dream trance cassette tapes, which resulted in her love for synth based and electronic music. Nowadays, 90% of the time she still prefers the classic sound from the 90's and Y2K, with genres varying from disco house, hard house, progressive and trance, as long as it has that old school vibe.

"For this set I decided to get a bit nostalgic and take a little trip down the memory lane.

The opening is a classic space synth and disco track by Space (duh), which I first heard during my gym lessons in the first years of high-school. Our gym teacher used to put this song on during the warm ups and we heard it through old, shabby speakers, while running, so this music made it much easier. 

I also sneaked in some Soviet Italo-inspired pop songs (which were big hits during that era), my big 80's love - Modern Talking and some original old-school Italo classics which I discovered when I was in the beginning of my twenties. Such as Black Devil Disco Club (aka Bernard Fevre), who made an indelible impression from a first listen when I first heard it from DJ Gmail, for which I'm eternally grateful for."
