I wrote this song before "Les Covidés" and it initially had a French chorus, but I ended up making that into a separate song, and in the end the other song became much more politically engaged than this one.
Anyway the first idea that sparked this song was the idea that every death is being recorded as Covid, and I wanted to take that to another level of sarcasm, having that joyful line in my head I started playing the keys looking for a suitable riff, finding a happy jazz blues riff it seemed perfect!
In latin there are lots of "spire" words, aspire, inspire, perspire, transpire, all linked to breathing, conspire could be translated as "breathe together"
The richest elite control and own the medias, put in place puppet governments, everything has an agenda, basically to keep people scared, keep them down, keep them ignorant
If we look at the main themes of today's news and their consequences:
Terrorism - fear of foreigners (especially bearded ones), acceptance of draconian security measures and surveillance to keep you safe
Climate Change - fear of the future, unwillingness to have children - acceptance of higher fuel prices, acceptance that we won't be able to drive cars, or have to buy into their ridiculous electric car scheme
Virus - fear of other people, acceptance of wearing a mask and social distancing and regular jabs of a yet to be proved medicine
The latter being especially worrying since if human beings can no longer see each others faces or touch each other, the basis of humanity breaks down
Going back to 2020 we expected the apocalypse, people got back from a dangerous expedition to the supermarket and washed their products, showered and put their clothes in the machine at 90°
In the end nothing really happened, there were no chariots from the plague shouting "bring out your dead", yet we had to endure lockdowns and curfews for no logical reason, logic it seems has been removed.
Throughout history people have been manipulated and lied to, controlled and enslaved, why would now be any different?
