For the first podcast, Relictronica welcomes we.amps, the Italian duo from Varese who have been shaping the underground with their dynamic fusion of House and Techno. Honest Work is back with the best from Berlin's underground club scene. This week we have Chris a.k.a. Sparkling Water Dreams for a solid 3 hours live on-air with host John Crosby. If you're out in the clubs in Berlin, you know Chris from his many sets at Tresor and Renate, and also from his latest EP release on Spencer Parker's Work Them Records. 

This is the first two hours of airtime, where Chris and John chat a bit about Chris' origin story + the last hour or so is a live mix from Chris, including some unreleased productions and deep house cuts.

One record to highlight in your collection : 

"Muzikizum, Pt. 1” by X-Press 2

It’s probably one of my favorite tracks to play. It’s got that warm, rolling energy that feels uplifting and keeps things moving without being too „in-your-face“. It came out in 2001 on Skint Records and is, in my opinion, a timeless gem that just works every time.

One label to highlight : 

I’d go with Twisted America! A key label from the late ’90s into the early 2000s. It pushed that dark, tribal, peak-hour sound with artists like Danny Tenaglia, Celeda, Superchumbo and Murk. Peter Rauhofer (big fan of him) was part of that scene too before he started his own label, Star 69, around 2000. 

One club/party to highlight : 

I haven’t really explored clubbing abroad privately yet, just played in other European cities, but from my years of experience in Berlin’s scene, I would have to say Panorama Bar. And not only for the Klubnacht bookings, but also for the Fridays, where they showcase different collectives. Some of the parties I’ve really enjoyed recently were Laundrette and La Noche. Great lineup curation and a super open, positive crowd! 

One track to highlight in the mix : 

“Music Saved My Life” by Cevin Fisher, the Peter Heller’s Groovejet Moment Version. Released in 2002 on Black Vinyl Records, it’s a vocal house track with a warm, rolling bassline and a steady, captivating build. The way the groove locks in really stands out and I really like the lyrics.

This mix is a journey through some of my favorite sounds, blending tribal and vocal house from the late 90s to early 2000s. It’s layered and unpredictable, creating vivid moments in your mind, like scenes in a movie.
