Tell the story of the vocalist, the producer, and then mesh the two together to tell the story of the team. Maybe your producer has a story about that time he saved 22 puppies from Vladimir Putin in a hot air balloon – or that time your vocalist had to run for his life after faking the funk on a nasty dunk. We don’t know – so you will have to tell us. This round, it’s all about your team.

Nerdcore Goes Pop! Nerdcore Goes Metal! Nerdcore Goes New Wave Shoegaze Blackened Folk Celtic Punk! It doesn't really matter what you go, but it can't be hip-hop for this round. Your team is tasked with covering an existing non-hip-hop/rap song. Any other genre is open for your choosing. And while we're on the topic of "no hip-hop," your cover doesn't even have to be in a hip-hop style either! Been wanting to rework an Iron Maiden song into a soaring pop track? Do it. Wanna cover Kenny Loggins in a crust punk style? Have fun! Think you could do a rap cover of a CHVRCHES song? Have at it.

It's an election year, and unless you've had your head in the sand, you've probably noticed that it's been quite a sight to behold. It is now time to provide your unique perspective on the political climate of the world. Vocalists: You must write a song with a sociopolitical theme. You can approach this from any angle: ‪#‎BlackLivesMatter‬, ‪#‎AllLivesMatter‬, either side of the presidential election, ‪#‎Brexit‬, etc. All topics that fall into the sociopolitical realm that you are passionate about are free game. Feel free to provide your personal thoughts and take on the issues, but keep in mind this round's vocalist technical challenge: do *not* write in the first-person perspective. Producers: Your beat must sample the national anthem of any country. It doesn't even have to be relevant to any of the topics covered lyrically. The producer's technical challenge of this round is crafting a song that is in a time signature other than 4/4. So get weird with it in order to fully satisfy the challenge requirements. This round there was no challenge but rather it was a free for all and we could do whatever we wanted. This is typically the crew track round and people get a lot of other guest vocalists. We decided only we would rap but we got a lot of guest instrumentalists and some rappers recording a single word rather than a verse. Oh and it's over seven minutes long with four distinct sections.
