Alternate Jane, a pandemic-hardened doctor-musician from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia returns to the music scene with her latest music single "Higher Ground" after a hiatus which saw her attending to Covid-19 related duties and subsequently battling Covid-19 herself.

Inspired by music from James Bond films and the mystery genre, this song combines the noir theme with a romantic twist, which makes it a unique listening experience for Valentine's week.

"Skype Love", originally penned in 2014, was inspired by university best friend's ill-fated long distance relationship with his then girlfriend. One was in Australia and the other in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Skype was their main mode of communication and this song is a memento that preserves the good moments of their connection.

With Thanksgiving around the corner, "Skype Love", a song inspired by my university best friend's ill-fated long distance relationship (both busy doctors) reminds us to be thankful for the people who are still with us. This song highlights the despair and difficulties caused by distance and time difference, whereby the protagonist wakes up to her boyfriend - not his physical self next to her, but instead a Skype video call from him that wakes her up. A variation of the classic Skype ringtone serves as a inspiration for the guitar melody throughout the song.
