Following the events of "Annihilation" and "Irrational Fear", xato presents the third part of his personal odyssey, "Stories with no fairy tales".

"Stories with no fairy tales" explores the dark self, with intense drone recordings, aggressive drum sounds and deep bass being the main sound focus of the project, surrounded by field-recording manipulations and deeply evolving textures.

As the project's tracks aged between 2019 and 2021, it never felt like the right time to release the project. However things changed when the reasons behind the tracks were revamped in the more recent years.

Claustrophobia

xato (est. 2018) is the moniker of the Greek, Vienna-based artist, producer, audio engineer and label owner of ‘evo-natura’ Ioannis Nafpliotis (b. 2000).
With a diverse palette of sounds, he debuted in 2020 with “State of Dismay”, an ambient/drone EP released on Himera’s boutique collective, “GoodbyeForever”.
During 2024, he released 4 EPs, all high-end produced projects covering the club, rap/hip-hop, bass, drone and experimental spectrum. A club essential EP "Emotional Burner" on DJ LOSER's label “Magdalena’s Apathy”, featuring Atlanta's finest 645AR, his anticipated drone EP "Irrational Fear" via "evo-natura", featuring bod [包家巷] on the spoken words, the catastrophic bass / leftfield EP "Stories with no fairy tales" via "xyx", featuring Klahrk and the 6-track collab heater EP with 645AR on the raps, featuring tracks with Ludwig Wandinger and BloodzBoi’s side alias, yy02, via “xyx”.
His DJ and Live sets are both skillfully performed, with both improvisation and DJ sets being fully adaptive to the audience’s energy, making them one of its kind experiences.

Ashland Ristoff, known as IVORY BLACK, is a self taught audio-visual artist operating out of NYC through several incarnations of creative energy (music composition, leather/metal working and garment design, perfumery, artwork and sculpture)
Counting releases on collectives such as Alloy Choir, Post Hoc, Mindseyerecords, Stochastic Mask, and No Catharsis, they maintain a highly instinctual approach within their craft although defined by elaborate sonic modification.
Their sounds are sourced in a non-linear method; nested for weeks, months or years at a time, to construct a rather intricate body of work that reflects on its own process of future self-actualization while maintaining a steady sense of where it stands during the present time.

Almost 20 years ago Jürgen De Blonde debuted on KRAAK with the nowadays unfindable and almost visionary album köhn 1. It was the starting point for a vital and wondrous exploration that lead him over paths of glitch, idm, shoe gaze, hypnagogic pop, improvised music, straight forward synth music, field recordings and kraut. 

In the middle of this ungraspable adventure through contemporary electronic music, Köhn stands as a genuine artist that stayed true to the curious spirit of the DIY knob twiddling and boggling boy he once was. 

KRAAK is proud to present his 7th album on KRAAK — Kreis Plön, which documents and envisions 20 years of exploring. It’s an album that is about a fusion of the past and the future, of separation and reconfiguration, of mourning and rejoicing, of noise and peace. Kreis Plön is about geolocation. It’s about probable fiction and looking for bits of different puzzles that fit together. An exercise in linear and perpendicular coherence devoid of any objective logic. 

In the middle of the album an artist is envisioning his place in the Now, questioning how or when he got there, as he links memories to imaginary places, and real places to imaginary histories. Kreis Plön stands as such a masterpiece that bluntly envisions the future of electronic music.

Vast, expansive and introspective works utilising place-specific found sound on this second Cremation Lily LP for Alter. Contemplating mortality, illness and the perennial bleakness of British winter in a seaside town we find Zen Zsigo experimenting with piano, violin, synthesiser and walkman tape players. Layering field recordings of the Hastings shoreline atop druggy, stretched out 303 basslines and snippets of spoken word there seems to be an overarching thematic of memory and reflection at play. From vignettes of crumbling glass and bittersweet drones through to sprawling, semi-rhythmical pieces (‘As a sea creature...’) it seems as if Zsigo is trawling the coast for fragments of its former glory. The end result of his study manages to echo the work of Yoran, Leyland Kirby and even Jacob Kirkegaard yet the rare moments where he lays bare his own vocal narrative seemingly transforms In England Now, Underwater into sonic diary territory. Mixing salt-water soaked cassette loops with haunting, minimalist piano motifs and warped recordings of crashing waves and bird noise an intense atmosphere of Ballard’s drowned world is evoked through sound.
