#21daysofvgm - day 2 - Sunny Beach

Day 3 of my #21daysofVGM. Today's word was "Whisper", so I decided to completely change setting and go for something spooky. Cult lair? Church sewer level? You name it! I had fun experimenting with contrast between breathy vocals and "spooky soprano" vocalizes, as well as creating an unsettling atmosphere through dissonance.

The prompt I got for day 4 of #21daysofVGM is "Volcano". I played around with the melody a bit, since I tend to write predictable stuff. I'm also doing some growls here, I liked thinking of those vocals as a sound effect more than an instrument. Is it the volcano speaking? You decide!

Day 4: Volcano

Today's word for #21daysofVGM is "Apple" and it made me think of a shop theme, so I went for something chill that you could (hopefully want to) listen to over and over. Vocals are first-take improvisation, featuring warm tones and my very rusty jazz skills. Time to restock your inventory!

Day 5: Apple

Today's prompt for #21daysofVGM is "Champion", so I tried to work on rhythm to make something exciting. The percussions ended up giving me anxiety instead. I've been wanting to experiment with this Bulgarian choir-inspired style for ages, and I finally got to do it here! Still a long way to go, but it's a start. There's a bit of Yuki Kajiura and NieR too in there, I guess. I wanted this to feel like the boss theme of a long-time rival, a focused battle between two characters who maybe were friends in a forgotten time...

Day 6: Champion

Trying to make something fitting for today's "spring sunrise" challenge on #21daysofVGM. No matter what I did it kept sounding epic rather than soft, as if the focus was the sunlight peeking in from the windows while you're still half-asleep. Be ready for a very emotional day at the farm! :P

"Day 8. Start with a stock drum loop and compose over and around it. You can always go back and change it/make your own loop later."

created a quick high hat loop by adding a high pass filter to two different stock loops and began composing around that. the rest of the drums (kicks and snares) were added later.

Day 9 of the #21daysofVGM challenge - today's challenge was to listen to music from a country you'd never heard before, and use that as inspiration for a composition. i chose the seychelles, and found a genre, coincidentally, named sega, so i knew i had to pick it

thought it kinda sounded like banjo-kazooie so i guess i gave them cool shades

the song is a loop, but i included a "stage complete" resolution at the end
