Leeds based producer and DJ Sourpuss has an unparalleled ability to craft genre-blending, downright naughty beats, and ‘Dance Music’ is a prime example. The raucous percussion contrasts against beautiful synths and a pounding bassline to create a mad, unique soundscape to capture the listener. 

On the flip is the remix from fellow Leeds boy Breaka, who shows exactly why he’s gained such a following so quickly. He keeps the charm of the Sourpuss production but sprinkles on some jungle and extra madness.

Kaarbanik Sound proudly presents ‘Unsound’, the debut album by @plurasound (the new project by Bristol based producer and DJ formerly known as @findingthings). Marking the 14th release on the imprint, in this album Plura shows us her unique view of techno, ambient and bass music, through an intricate use of field recordings, analogue synths and processed vocals. The alluring, ethereal production gives the sense of freedom through its contrasting melodies and sounds, and draws the listener ever closer to the music by combining soothing and cavernous harmonies with rhythmic wreckage, bass weight and found sound. 

The conceptual album, consisting of seven tracks (including collaborations with @hartta & @ektosounds) and original illustrations by Matty Zak, explores the ups and downs of the music industry and its potential effects on mental health. As we come into the homestretch of 2020 (thank god), there’s just one more gift left to give before Christmas. To sign off our mix series for the year, we couldn’t be more excited to introduce Swamp81-dweller and Rinse resident, the multitalented DJ and producer, Patrice. With multiple Rinse shows under his belt alongside Swamp81/Loefah/Sumgii, a recent YouTube FOLD x Swamp81 special, b2b with Big Kani ft. Snowy, as well as a standout b2b with Interplanetary Criminal for Limbo Radio, the CV on this guy is endless. 

As a producer, Patrice linked with Pete Cannon on Butterfly feat. Snowy, back in October 2019, and more recently, on big-beat duty for ‘Vanish’ for Faultsz, and on D.I.T.B with Big Kani, which were released in June and early December respectively. Just to top it all off, Patrice runs Emib clothing, hot off a collab with Swamp81, pictured above.
