Levzon - Mambata EP [FRNZYREC004]

Seasons are changing - energy is shifting. The next Frenzy release is here, presenting the next-best-local talent on the block: Levzon. This born-to-be gearhead from the outskirts of Amsterdam began experimenting with electronic music as a youngster. Immersing himself in a variety of genres throughout his early years, he decided to take the next step and provide an output for his vision on techno as ‘Levzon’. For our next Frenzy adventure, he is going all out for the first time, profiling his sound through a 4-track heavy-hitting EP with old-school-induced cuts and loopy basslines, including two remixes by like-minded associates.  

Imagine an era where speed has no limit and the night knows no dawn. That’s about the atmosphere ‘Mambata’ is creating at the start of the A-side. Followed by drum-led ‘Bang the Drums’, Levzon continues to ride the wave of heat, pressure, and movement. The adventure doesn’t end here yet: talent on the rise Phil Berg is providing a perfectly executed dubby remix of ‘Bang The Drums’ Enter the B-side where a body-heavy peak time experience is awaiting you with ‘Baraa’. A true weapon on the dancefloor. At the end of his story, Levzon leaves us with the beautifully composed ‘Baila’, casting a subtle rhythm of basslines with funk-induced vocals within a more subtle tempo. To close off the record in style, Ruiz OSC1’ provides a remix of ‘Baila’ - throwing her 90s rave techniques into the battle.

Today we premiere a track from one of the most exciting names in Irish techno, Dylan Fogarty. The youngster debuts on Parisian label and event series @rawppl with his new track 'Da Funky Track' - a raw and bouncing groove that tips a hat to the golden era of 90's techno.

Dylan Fogarty debuts on RAW's infamous Summer Hits VA series for the first edition of the series that supplies all original tracks instead of its usual collection of reworks. The release calls gather a collection of techno producers from various corners of the world to supply some sun-soaked bangers that are sure to be on heavy rotation at festivals, club shows, and open airs this summer. With tracks from Hadone, Under Black Helmet, AK Sports, JKS, Pagan and more the compilation is a strong collection of bangers.

Hailing from Skerries Dylan Fogarty emerged at the tail end of 2022 with a deep and lengthy amount of unreleased techno funk. The newcomer has quickly impressed with a flurry of self-releases as well as featuring on ASW, Rave Your Soul, Concrete Berlin & more. Ireland’s newest arrival of loop-driven techno obsession has been gaining support from some of Europe's most in-demand selectors including DJ Heartstring, Tommy Holohan, Kettama, and more. Running off the back of a landmark Life Festival debut and a string of high-profile club shows, Dylan is a force to be reckoned with, and I'd be keeping a close eye on this talent.

Dylan Fogarty’s contribution to RAW Summer Hit's VA is a refreshing bouncing techno groove that is simply made for festival season. Dylan references the 90's techno scene coming from Sweden as 'Da Funky Track' takes influences from the likes of Adam Beyer & Samuel L. Session. A pulsating bassline plays off well-crafted syncopated drum grooves creating a simplistic yet utterly entrancing funked-up loop. Dylan captures the art of stripped-back techno funk, less is most definitely more when it comes to crafting this style. Outstanding as always.

Four Four Premiere: Dylan Fogarty - Da Funky Track [RAW]

We premiere new music from one of the most exciting techno producers in Ireland right now Cult. The young producer carves out a classy ode to 90’s tribal cuts that is as menacingly funk fuelled as it is bouncy and melancholic.

Rising from the shadows of Dublin City suburbia seemingly out of nowhere has been the young DJ & producer, CULT. His alias befittingly captures the phenomenon to which he has gathered momentum and built a legion of loyal listeners who have come to expect nothing but pure and proper productions, toggling between tribal and old school techno.

Entering the periphery of many through a relentless onslaught of self-released rave weapons, CULT’s sound matured into one more in keeping with the classic, groove focused sound of techno which characterised the late 90s and early 2000s. Warm and punchy low end is a constant component of a CULT track, laying the foundations for the tribal drum demolition which often ensues amongst the mirage of deep pads, funky stabs and 909 rhythms. Ingenious and creative sampling manifests itself through nostalgic sounds of techno’s past, whilst also borrowing sonic fragments from rave and ghetto records.

Considering this, the young Irishman has rapidly risen through the ranks of the underground groove renaissance, positioning himself at the forefront of the scene as an innovator and name to not be forgotten. Well-received releases with the likes of Deadline Records, Concrete Berlin & Kluster have helped cement CULT’s status as a groove dealer of mass proportion. With his music being played at parties such as Vault Sessions by DJs like Alarico & Future666 at an aggressively frequent rate, the producer is presently at the heart of the scene’s sound. With upcoming releases on an infamous Parisian label in addition to headline slots in clubs such as Dublin’s Wigwam and international debuts in France and Italy, CULT’s rise to the top, like his grooves, is sure to be fast and relentless.

We premiere his latest offering on AKTIVV as the young producer delivers a blistering tribal cut that wastes no time in getting to boiling point. Relentless tribal rhythms play across punchy low-end groove, and bouncing chord stabs. The young producer lays heavenly pads across the face of the funk-laden club-tool to add real sense of depth, nostalgia and character. This a strong offering from an ever-consistent techno producer.
