EDC 2019 Warmup Mix

The concept for this project came to me during a very dark period of my life when I was flustered with the loss of a loved one, the loss of love, and the deep sadness that laces itself into my creativity when I feel this way. I recorded it one evening after EDC Vegas, gave it a listen and absolutely hated it. I listened to some new music looking for inspiration and tried recording something a little different a few weeks later, but again same results. It was just too dark. It wasn't me. Nothing made sense.I felt that no matter how much hard work I put into something, there would be no results which, in my heart, I knew wasn't true... what was I missing? Where is the beauty in this mix I wanted so deeply. 

So lets try again... I thought I might tell a story in the mix... so I layered my own voice between transitions and gave my audience a little inside to why I chose a few songs and told a little history about myself. Demo'd it to my best friend and 5 minutes in (before I even got to my talking) she looked at me as if she just saw a ghost. This mix scares people. Fuck I give up

July 19th - (literally 2 months now from 1st recording) I came across the most beautiful soul who gave me inspiration to finish this. This mix was to express beauty AND chaos. Somehow, it all clicked in my head seeing her in this black and white outfit (she's also the kween on the cover art). Like polar opposites, two different ends of the spectrum, this is what I was trying to achieve. It was then, I found the missing piece to my puzzle. 

I already had all my tracks selected since May(58 total) I scrapped the rap garbage I really never related to anyways, put a few heavy hitters aside (part 2????) and literally reversed the entire order of the tracks. So instead of my typical "hit them hard off the bat" sound, I was going to do something beautiful and melodic.... THEN hit them in the face.. then whatever comes to me 

It's an example of how something gorgeous can turn dark in a matter of seconds.

Dj Lucid, born Joshua Lemanski, grew up in Warren, Michigan listening to a wide genre of music. As a result of his musical up bringing, at the age of 14, Lucid purchased his first set of turntables (after saving up just enough cash from working at McDonalds then promtly quitting). He fell in love with the capability to manipulate the music he already loved, and turn it into his own. Soon discovering that he was a natural, Lucid began dj-ing house parties and school dances. 

His unique style has been influenced by many great Disc Jockeys and producers throughout the years. Artists like; Afrojack, Laidback Luke, Dj Chuckie, Sidney Samson, Hardwell, Tiesto and many others.Although Lucid has learned from many different djs, his style is what sets him apart.

When it comes to DJ'ing Lucid really knows his business, bringing all the right music to the dance floor at all the right times. Whether you are enjoying his sets on the radio or at the club it is clear that when Lucid is behind the decks people get uplifted and want to dance.There is no getting around the energy that he brings to his craft and this experience is something you really should not miss

He has just recently begun producing his own remixes and mashups. Various recorded Bootlegs have been getting a lot of attention and played in over 100 countries around the world. His sound, while remaining very distinct and sophisticated to some, surely reaches everyone.

2012 will surely see him continue his trend of traveling around the hottest clubs in Detroit and bringing his music close to you, as well as surprising people with more top quality remixes and new original material. Be sure to keep following this young multi-talent, the best has yet to come!
