<b>Elliot Rosoff (producer)</b>: “I am primarily a concert violinist and have played on records by people as diverse as Philip Glass, Deodato and LL Cool J. In the early ‘80s, I had a studio, Opal Studios and our engineer Andy Langston did a lot of R&B and disco production - our projects included a disco version of Jesse Green’s "Nice And Slow." On "Ain’t No Way," the singer was a girl called Brenda Watts – she had released a few records beforehand like "Who Needs A Love Like That" but seemed to disappear from music after Opal. I remember that we received great feedback and a lot of club play across New York.” <b>Phil Barr (writer)</b>: “During the ‘70s, Elliot was one of the few people in New York that had a 24-track studio. ‘Ain’t No Way’ had originally been written as a hard rock track - Elliot liked it and we started working on an R&B version of it which he put out on his label, Silver Cloud.”

Though traditionally, the bulk of the sorely missed producer’s extensive catalog gets a major run in the second month of every year,  I hold firm to the tenet of  #ALLDILLAEVERYTHING, all year round.

DJ Getlive unleashed a recording of his set from the 6th annual “Donuts Are Forever” at New York’s Brooklyn Bowl this past February.

Unlike a great many of the tributes that normally root themselves in more mainstream and easily recognizable DILLA tunes, Getlive takes his into somewhat lesser known but equally, if not more so, poignant creations and their auditory sources from your favorite producer’s, favorite producer.

Love You So

Gleefully sharing their moniker with an infamous old school South American gang, South Yorkshire’s Alvarez Kings summon pop power through timeless analog synth and guitar magic. Brothers Simon [vocals, guitar] and Paul Thompson [bass, keys, backup vocals], Aidan Thompson [guitar, keys]— have quietly built up an international buzz since their 2012 formation.

BBC Radio proclaimed “No Resolve” the “Single of the Year,” while they impressed audiences at Firefly, Summefest and Isle of Wight Festival in addition to show-stopping stints on the Vans Warped Tour in 2013 and 2015 and support slots on tours with Melanie Martinez, PVRIS, Three Eye Blind and Switchfoot. 

Their 2015 EP, Fear To Feel, expanded their foothold in the U.S. Spotify featured the title track on coveted playlists such as The Indie Mix and Ultimate Indie Playlist, notching 40K streams in less than 12 hours and eventually amassing over 1M and counting. Meanwhile, they drew acclaim from Billboard, Huffington Post, and more. 

Preceded by the introductory focus track “Sleepwalking Pt.II” their full-length debut, Somewhere Between [Sire/Warner Bros. Records], was released June 2017. Produced by Grammy Award winning producer Carlos De La Gaza of Paramore and Wolf Alice fame the album went on to cement the band as a serious contender for their unique brand of indie-pop gems and a growing army of dedicated fans around the world. The album was backed up with headline tours in the US, Europe and the UK. 

Fast forward to 2019 and Alvarez Kings are set to release their brand new single Invincible in May 2019, which they described as "Phase II" of their journey with a host of other singles set to follow in the interim.
