Receiving the baton from label head Stacey Pullen, Spain’s David Herrero steps up to the Blackflag plate to deliver a double-thick package of dancefloor crushing techno.
A standout favourite of Pullen’s in recent years, Herrero is an industrious beatsmith whose issued cuts on labels such as Defected, VIVa Music and Monza Ibiza Records and garnering the support of Loco Dice, Marco Carola and Richie Hawtin, along with the Detroit legend of course. It’s this sharp form that’s seen him play a succession of heavy-hitting gigs everywhere from Japan’s heady temple of techno, Womb, to Toronto’s iconic Footwork and Space in Miami. 

Over three tracks, his debut EP for Blackflag Recordings highlights his versatility as a producer and continues the label’s growing reputation for showcasing the rich vein of talent coming from Spain skilful techno Armada.

‘Maybe Someday’ kicks the release into gear with the kind of punchy, muscular techno that shakes with an cutting industrial vibe and is the kind of weapon you can imagine the masses loses their collective faculties to at Music On when the sun starts to seep into Amnesia’s famous terrace. 

Herrero approaches things from a different standpoint with ‘The Frogman’, the cut mixing up bouncy basslines in the intro that lead into the mother of all groove-driven techno workouts; relentless, hip-lashing and impossible to listen to without getting a case of twitchy dancefloor feet. 

Proving his sonic dexterity, ‘They Tell Me’ is the plump, drum-heavy roller crafted thick with tribal percussion and thick smoky atmosphere and makes the perfect compliment to its more up-tempo accomplices.

Mark Reeve is a name synonymous within techno, having released on labels such as Drumcode, Cocoon and Bedrock in recent years. These releases have served as a platform for him to tour the world as a DJ, playing esteemed festivals like Awakenings, Tomorrowland and B My Lake. 

2017 see’s him return to Truesoul with ‘New Path EP’, comprising of two blistering tracks in ‘New Path’ and ‘Acceso’. Both tracks are teeming with dark sounds and heavy textures and are typical of Reeve. The title track ’New Path’ is a homage to his groove laden past, calling on big bass lines and sweeping percussion that takes you on a ride through the track. ‘Acceso’ is more of a rolling affair with a thumping beat and some divine synth work. These are certified floor fillers and given the Adam Beyer stamp of approval.

NoExcuse Records started as an underground record label, and since our start, we have continually held a passion for the underground scene as that's where the future talent emerges from. One of the up and coming artists from this scene is Alvin Kyer, and we are excited to present his latest EP, 'Classy Soundsystem'.

Opening with 'Solving Problems', Alvin introduces the EP with a dark and hypnotic techy cut that has a very unique mystique resonating throughout. Deep yet tight bass notes team with a lead synth melody that builds the suspense as the track progresses, making it an after-hours weapon. Taking the energy up a notch is the remix by Strickland, with emphasis on the heavier bass-driven groove and accented hats. Joined with tense breakdowns and big drops, this remix is set to take crowd on a late-night journey.

'Drop It', ups the tempo, and adds a garage influenced foundation that's complimented further with syncopated drums, smooth synths, and a snappy vocal excerpt. Stripping back the drum beat, and incorporating a bass-focused motif is the remix by Arado. Both the original and remix are ideally placed for daytime and late night sessions.

Finishing the EP is the third original by Alvin titled 'Just Like'. A hard-hitting roller, this track is packed with attitude and energy. Punchy basslines and ominous effects echoing throughout give this track an excitement that makes it a key component for taking warm-up to peak-time transitions.

German-born artist Alvin Kyer is about as fine of an ambassador for today's trending tech house world as you will find anywhere. At the mere age of 15, he became the youngest resident DJ in Germany after being discovered by Stuttgart club M1’s owner Bubi Schuster. He continued his record-breaking form by becoming the youngest DJ to play on a lineup at das dreizehnte Land at just 18. 

Alvin’s musical incentives are drawn from some of the purest sources within dance music history. Early influence absorbed from the dancefloors of DC10 and Space Ibiza, listening to artists like Armand van Helden, Loco Dice and Butch has gone on to help mould his musical palette with a level of defined maturity and sureness. 

His prominence within the German scene, combined with a residency at 102 in Neuss and frequenting Kowalski in Stuttgart have led Alvin to feel at home amongst some of his biggest idols and industry giants. He has been privileged to support the likes of Richie Hawtin, Magda, Jon Gaiser, Ricardo Villalobos, David Morales, Karotte, Loco Dice, Eric Prydz, DJ Rush, Felix Krocher, Chris Liebling, Benny Benassi and many more throughout his career.

Imaginably, a performer of Alvin’s stature has no doubt tried his hand in the studio, right? His release resume already consists of some of the biggest names in tech house including NoExcuse, NONSTOP, Roushlabel, Formatik and many others, with a plentiful supply of finished records on track for release in the near future. Alvin’s production efforts have seen his music supported by the likes of Adam Beyer, Karotte, Paco Osuna, Arado, Joseph Capriati and many others.

With several gigs confirmed gigs dotted around Europe and an impressive amount of forthcoming releases on the horizon, Alvin is keeping his foot well and truly on the gas as he continues to rise to precedence on a global scale.
