Growing up in the New York City area, music and rhythm were integral to Alyssa Jayson even before she was old enough to grasp its finer points. Frequently moved to dance to a thrilling beat or repeat a moving melody, her discovery of the powerful connection between words, music and emotion pulled her in early to explore the performing arts. She absorbed the nuances of different styles of music through dance, instrumental and choral groups as she searched to find her own artistic voice. 

Alyssa showcases this artistic and personal journey on her new CD, Please Be True. We travel effortlessly with her as she explores life with new eyes and in new frequencies. Her debut LP, Use As Needed (2009) had Alyssa compared to artists such as Janis Ian and Natalie Merchant. 

Produced and Engineered by Multi-Platinum record producer, Philip A Jimenez (Wheatus, Beat Radio, NY Lights) at Milkhouse Studios in Huntington, NY. Jimenez says, "Working on Please Be True with Alyssa was like creating a collage of emotions, musical textures, melodies, and revelations in an environment of pure creativity with a best friend.”

The album's title track quickly immerses listeners into Alyssa’s textured journey which continues to be explored throughout. By featuring unconventional, live-recorded instruments such as: the Irish Cittern, Sitar and Tuba. The sound of  these unique instruments is the defining thread throughout the album. 

Alyssa says “ I wanted the CD to reflect my feelings. No matter where you are - pick up an instrument - play, sing, shake some shells and get into living!”
