We continue our love letter to the French underground scene by welcoming the extremely talented @subsism, aka Guillaume. 

Subsism has a big part to play in Lyon’s thriving music scene. He has not only co-founded the collective @atomasso, but also become a key resident at @everybodytrance. He is the ultimate selector with deep knowledge spanning across bass, techno, breaks and trance.  Subsism’s productions aren’t to be forgotten, his carefully curated set of releases are perfect for any sweaty dance floor.

A Walking Contradiction resurfaces with a new release by their friend & collaborator Katatonic Silentio, channeling a collection of tracks submerged in echoes and pressure-shaped pulses. AWC011 traces fluid architectures built from delay, decay, and deep resonance—each composition unfolding like sediment in motion. Sounds sway with tidal pull, suspended in chambers where space thickens and time refracts. Basslines emerge like sonar beneath shifting layers, while percussive elements flicker at the edges, softened by current and drag.

Elastic and disorientated, these underwater constructions are tuned to the language of depth and dissolution.

Solma draws inspiration from the hypnotic pulse of modern deep techno and the vibrant energy of UK bass music, weaving these influences into his own psychedelic sound. As the Paris-based producer and co-founder of Virtual Forest Records, he has cultivated a signature style defined by meticulous sound design that fluidly crosses genre boundaries and rates.

Solma - Synthetic Tales - 18.09.25

On episode no. 17 of MJU Residency we have Natas Kunas (real name Donatas Vaitkunas) - a prolific new generation composer working on the cutting edge of ambient experimental music. Using modular techniques Natas Kunas tries to blur the border between sound, texture and feeling, creating highly visceral compositions that forgo all traditional understandings of rhythm, reaching more into some deep primal memories than into the energies of movement. We'll be hearing only original works today, assembled from live performances.

Unfortunately, there was another accident and during the birth of song, the DAW program lost all the samples. There was no chance to upload libraries without shutting down. All methods have failed. Because I only use samples and synthesizers, the song is not recoverable, like many others before. As before, I upload a fragment that is unfortunately modulated and non-original, for the purpose of placing it in the cloud as a souvenir of an interesting journey. Sorry for the quality.
