Maconha is out tomorrow with our Brazilian friends over at ZonaEXP and it translates to Marijuana, but other than being the devil's lettuce it is everything but mellow 🌿 This 170bpm corker off Pianki's "Quase", starts out EXPerimental with wavering synths, breaks and wonky Samples before it EXPlodes into an off-the-hook Rave fest - only to dissolve again. Amal is a producer, DJ, and founder of the Hochi Runs label, pushing the sound of underground dance music forward from Washington, DC. As one-third of Black Rave Culture, he blends techno, house, and club music into a sound that’s uniquely his own, earning support from artists like Bicep, Sherelle, Yaeji, and Mall Grab. His production work includes a Pitchfork-acclaimed project with DC rapper Wifigawd, scoring for global brand Asics, and remixes for Ohm Unit and James Bangura. With BBC Radio airplay and recognition on DJ Mag’s Top Albums of 2022, Amal continues to gain momentum globally. A commanding presence behind the decks, he’s performed at Boiler Room, Dweller, Movement, and ADE, with his debut solo album set to drop in 2025.
