und Liebeskummer als Reimnorm.
Ich tipp zurück: „Ich nehm’s nicht krumm,“
doch innerlich singt’s: „Oh Junge, dumm…“

„Weißt du, ich glaub, Karma trägt Sneakers.“
„Und ne Sonnenbrille, wenn’s regnet.“
 „Und wenn du denkst, du bist oben?“
„Dann hält’s dir den Spiegel hin.“

Ich fall hin, steh auf, lach schief,
denk: „Okay, das war produktiv.“
Ich schreib Gedichte an mein Pech,
und manchmal ist das gar nicht schlecht.
Denn irgendwo in all dem Mist,
liegt Glitzer, den man fast vergisst.
Und Karma flüstert mir ganz sacht:
„Schön, dass du’s diesmal besser machst.“

Ich hab gelernt: Das Leben dealt fair,
nur manchmal mit ’nem falschen Flair.
Ich wollt Erfolg – bekam Erkenntnis,
ich wollt Liebe – bekam Sendungsbewusstsein.
Doch ehrlich: Wenn’s so weitergeht,
mach ich Comedy statt Gebet.
Denn dieses Lächeln, halb aus Trotz,
ist stärker als mein Gottesrotz.

„Karma hat mich mal angerufen – auf unterdrückt.“
„Ich hab zurückgeschrieben: ‚Sorry, kein Empfang – bin im Hier und Jetzt.‘“

Karma hat Humor,
gibt mir Chaos als Geschenk.
Ich wollt Frieden im Dur,
doch das Leben spielt in Moll – und es klingt perfekt.
Karma hat Humor,
und lacht, wenn ich’s nicht check.
Ich fall in jedes Fettnäpfchen –
und steh drin wie im Glückseffekt.

„Ich hab mir Wunschräume ausgedacht…“
„…und dann vergessen, sie anzumachen.“
„Ich hab geträumt, dass Glück mich küsst…“
„…und aufgewacht – mit Falten, Mist!“
Doch irgendwie, da ist es schön,
dieses Stolpern und Weitergeh’n.
Karma grinst – und reicht uns Wein,
„Leute, ihr seid gar nicht allein.“

Wir tanzen barfuß durch den Dreck,
mit Humor statt Zorn im Gepäck.
Das Leben ist kein böser Witz –
nur schlecht erzählt – mit Blitz und Witz.
Und wenn der Himmel wieder kracht,
dann winken wir und sagen sacht:
„Na, Karma – schon wieder du?“

„Dann setz dich, bleib. Ich lach gleich mit, im Nu.“

„Weißt du, Karma ist wie ein schlechter Comedian…“
„Aber mit verdammt guter Pointe.“
„Danke – war mir ein inneres Gleichgewicht.“

Onam the famous harvest festival of Kerala is associated with the legend of King Mahabali who ruled the land a long time ago. His rule was supposed to be an era of peace and prosperity. He was sent to the nether world by Vamanan, one of the incarnations of Lord Vishnu. He was granted permission to visit his subjects and the land he once ruled every year during the Malayalam month of Chingam (August – September). Every year the land decks up in anticipation of the beloved King. The celebrations for Onam are on for 10 days, beginning with the Atham asterism of the Malayalam month Chingam. During Onam season all Keralites, regardless of caste and religion rejoice together and reaffirm the values of harmony and co-existence. Kerala celebrates Onam with great pride and joy, and each corner of the state echoes with the joyous sounds of native sports, art forms, processions and fairs. The inevitable floral decoration is seen at every home. Many temple festivals, boat races and agrarian events are also held during the Onam season.

Chekele describes the plight of an agrarian couple Chathan and Neeli.

The farmer and his wife awoke before dawn and arrived at the thambran’s (landlord) house to mark their attendance before working the fields. At the paddy field, they find the crop destroyed due to flooding. Chathan, worried about his next meal, wonders if he could get a simple porridge at dusk. “Madathilendunde kachikudikkan aiye Andekadi ke daathi” (is there anything at home that can be boiled and drunk for dinner, my dear? He asks). A failed crop, is a failed year…when the harvest festival of Kerala ~ Onam ~ comes, this year, the couple will be unable to participate in the ritual of giving handsel, a token gift of food and grains to the landlord.

The farmer’s predicament takes him and his wife into the forest for sustenance. The last-remaining sweet-tasting food they brought along for the journey has attracted ants and the cane basket that they carried their belongings in has come undone…

But despite being unlucky, the journey into the forest gives the couple a chance to be alone; never losing sight of each other they climb many hills, hastily.
