Aman Negi is a painter and multimedia artist from Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh. He was born in 1991 and graduated with a BFA from the College of Arts, New Delhi in 2014. He then pursued his MFA from Sir JJ School of Art, Mumbai in 2016, specializing in painting. His work explores the themes of nostalgia, memory, and fantasy, drawing inspiration from his personal and cultural history. His ongoing project, “What has been built will collapse”, is a nostalgic reflection on his home through various mediums such as painting, photography, sound, and object assemblage. He is interested in the history, tradition, culture, changing landscapes, and ecological issues of Kinnaur and the Himalayas. and challenge the viewers to question the ecological and social implications of their actions. He considers himself a painter acting as a pointer, tracing glimpses of history and raising awareness about the land and water issues in the region.
