In collaboration with my talented brother, Anthony, we aimed to make a electronic piece inspired by lo-fi and indie influences. This piece challenged my production skills as well as my electronic music capabilities.

only way out

This light dance-style solo written for alto saxophone sings the story of a passionate ballerina who is past their physical prime but takes one last moment to reminisce on their dancing days. We hear as the memories flood back to them as they go through the movements of the waltz they once performed and experience the heartbreak of their physical deterioration.

Saxophone Piece Past Prime (2023)

"Righteous Man" is a solo piece written for Horn in F with a percussion accompaniment. With themes inspired by Scottish Folksong "The Parting Glass", this piece reflects the unpredictable, harsh tragedies that befall the Greene family in The Walking Dead TV series. With farm life experience and persistent faith, Hershel and his two daughters, Maggie and Beth, suffer a series of calamities upon the outbreak that question their morals and test their bond as a family. Although Hershel's religiously fueled, optimistic outlook deescalates many disastrous circumstances, some men's morals are too unwavering to be reasoned with.

Righteous Man

Growing up in Metairie, Louisiana, Amanda Short is a multi-instrumentalist performer, composer, and music educator. She grew up playing piano and participated as a percussionist throughout grade school bands. Accumulating unique experiences including marching, concert, and festival events, Amanda became Drum Major by her senior year at Riverdale High School. By graduation, she had plenty of experience performing the soulful traditions of New Orleans through Jazz bands and Brass bands.
	Following the legacy of her Mom who played piccolo, Amanda attended LSU and marched with LSU’s Tigerband on cymbals in the Fall of 2022 and 2023. She studies music composition at the university and primarily enjoys writing programmatic ensemble pieces and indie-inspired work for guitar. Amanda is currently working on a classical guitar piece, Bittersweet, exploring themes of childhood potential and forgotten ambitions.
