The new dirtybird compilation is loaded with 11 great tunes I have been collecting for over 6 months. Most notably, the Shiba San "OKAY" record has absolutely been destroying every dance floor known to man. We have lots of big birds like Justin Martin, Catz ‘N Dogz & Justin Jay on this, plus a ton of great newcomers and friends making appearances.

The dirtybird BBQ was founded as a small get together in Golden Gate Park thirteen years ago. We've had the same core line-ups and even the same chef, Grillson, since the beginning.  But three years ago, the free party in the park got too big and our permit was pulled.  The city of San Francisco could no longer handle the amount of people showing up to the event.  

Ever since then we have been trying to think of way to bring back the vibe of the BBQ park party. This year we finally put together a team that is able to take the BBQ party all across North America and Europe. We will be starting in Miami and ending in San Francisco so make sure to come grill and chill with us sometime this year. This compilation is a celebration of the O.G. dirtybird BBQ vibe.   I hope you enjoy the music.

"Everything was better in the old days" has always been questionable. Music-wise we have seen major developments across the genres from the eighties until today. One track that defnitely ruled the clubs in the early years was Transform's "Transformation". Justifably considered an absolute cult hit, it seemed reasonable to see if a contemporary remix of such a classic could turn today's dancefoors upside down just as well as original did in the past. And hear for yourselves, it can! 
The original with its raw, puristic and light-footed vibe, spiced up with a hypnotic acid line and topped off with its famous vocal snippet that burned itself into the minds of millions of ravers in the glorious 90s, can certainly be labeled "timeless". Consequently the choice of remixer could hardly been more suitable with a guy who is responsible for a number of timeless classics such as "Hale Bopp" and "Electric Friends" himself. We are talking about "Der Dritte Raum" of course. 
Andreas Krueger aka "Der Dritte Raum" takes "Transformation" into the 21st century in the tried and tested way that we've always known and respected this gentleman for: hypnotic, driving and incredibly sophisticated. This remix honors the original and promises to become a hit itself. We are excited for this overdue comeback. Welcome to the future.

It’s Brigado Crew & Crisstiano who bring the boom boom boom on Lost on You’s latest release, a high-fidelity offering of oscillator
explorations designed for sunrise at the after party.

Opening track ‘Burning' features the haunting vocal whispers of Haptic - a first for the usually
instrumental club banger repertoire of LoY - and it works to soul-stirring effect. Haptic meanders through dark synthesised passages, his early 80s purring endowing the song with an electro feel, cutting through the silence and ushering in alleys of purple light from all directions. A big warm-up track.

Track two, ‘Rebellion' brings a Nico Jaar-esque wandering into play, as a cat smirks and strolls down the sidewalk. Juicy, bouncy and irrepressibly contagious, ‘Rebellion’ is a chugger, a one-punch slugger that keeps getting back up for more. This is real head-spinning tech house for the space-out-and-forget crew.

Track three is the eponymous ‘Elephants’, a safari-tinged adventure into the places where great beasts play. But what starts as a casual expedition soon devolves into madness as the mammalian world takes on a life of its own, Elephantine tribes encircle the only exits, and you give yourself up to nature.

The main feeling you take away from the Elephants EP is one of adventure not usually found in electronic music, of being guided somewhere - somewhere better - by invisible forces. And maybe there’s a parallel with the thousands of disadvantaged people who, because of this revolutionary record label, are now experiencing aid, however minor it may be. Welcome Back

'The latest release from Tash's Movement Recordings welcomes Victor Ortiz aka The Note V to the label for his debut EP. Since first appearing in 2012, the Mexican artist has found a home on Bar25, Manual Music and Steyoyoke where his unique take on melodic techno has flourished. Now following a remix for Sounds Of Earth, the Mexico City resident lands on Movement with 'Equilibre' alongside remixes from Magitman and Bessiff. 

Beginning with the title track, The Note V collaborates with French artist Bessiff who is best known for this releases on Aftertech Records, Traum and Inner Symphony. Bringing their creative talents together the duo craft a slice of cosmic techno to set the mood of the EP. Backed by a warm yet punchy groove, it's fragmented arps, buzzing synth swells and astral stabs fill in a framework as the first act unfolds. Timely modulation elevates the mood before smooth chord changes shift the narrative into emotive territory across an ethereal break and radiant finale. The companion piece 'Eclipse' finds The Note V collaborating with Sergio Oyarvide whom he worked with once previously on an EP for KDB Records. Following a similar sonic ethos to its predecessor, the duo build a narrative of emotive bass swells, playful arps and cosmic creativities. It's spongy kick and perfectly sculpted bass flow with a wonderful warmth, as subtle shades and tones trail across the framework. The main break adds just the right amount of emotion to keep it's exquisite vibe fully intact, before effortlessly shifting energy into a purring finale.

The lone interpretation of 'Equilibre' is provided by Magitman who returns to the label for his fourth appearance. The Israeli artist has been a fixture of the electronic underground for well over a decade and that extensive experience is always evident in his work. Now a regular on Beat Boutique and Proton Music, he returns to Movement with a stunning take on 'Equilibre'. Remarkably fluid and undeniably modern, it's a mix that stays true to the delicate themes from the original, while adding a progressive essence through charming musicality and redolent rhythms. Timeless and emotive, the main break brings impassioned moments before pulling back for a tasteful drop and groovy final act.

Rounding out the release and providing the lone interpretation of 'Eclipse' is Bessiff who collaborated on the lead piece with The Note V. Now adding another magic touch to the release the French artist brings more of his inspired designs to 'Eclipse'. It's driving rhythmic core quickly becomes infectious as buoyant arps and astral motifs fill in the percussive gaps. Concise and perfectly timed, the main break drifts further into cosmic territory, meditative at moments and striking at others, it's cosmic musicality shines before a smooth energy bridge transitions the piece into a spaced out finale. A stunning remix from Bessiff, rounding out another great offering from Tash's Movement Recordings.'

"The Magic in You" is a track  inspired by the magic that each of us have within our soul, a track that wants to bring positivity and hope. Basef on Progressive House style, the main instrument os a soft piano, acompanied  at all times by different percussions and pads, creating a wonderful Atmosphere"

Anatomically speaking, “Lava Lava” grows from a sleek arrangement. But once you hit the play button the bite of the kickdrum, the seismic rumble of the bassline and the fulminant orchestral thrust of the instrumental samples work together like the cogs and gears inside a clock. Needless to say, the result is rather explosive and compelling - which goes for both the original version and the rolling big-room remix of Stephan Zovsky, who’s out on a mission to blow some minds again. And The Glitz don’t leave it at that: “Dandy Doorhole” is raising the stakes even higher. This tune exists between the perfidious boost of its bassline and the glittering showers of its open hi hats and hurls any dancefloor to the next level - a level oddly reminiscent of a spaced-out computer game. The remix comes from an old friend of 3000Grad: Mathias Kaden. This grand master of beats, bass and pressure delivers a version that is just as feverish and ecstatic, but that draws its energy from the irresistible groove that is the hallmark of this veteran producer.
