𓂃 Morning Mantra invites┈┉ Der Opium Queen @djopiumqueen ꒱꒱
exploring ¨·.·¨·.·
"Turn on, tune in, drop out"- a counterculture-era phrase popularized by Timothy Leary in 1966. In 1967, Leary spoke at the Human Be-In, a gathering of 30,000 hippies in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco and phrased the famous words.

Released on vinyl in 1968, Turn on Tune in Drop Out is a spoken word but with sparse haunting  guitar and tabla music over it. Unlike anything that came before the narration here sounds as if the voices are beamed down from somewhere in the stratosphere. On this lengthy album, Leary can be heard speaking in a monotone soft voice on his views about the world and humanity, describing nature, Indian symbols, "the meaning of inner life", the LSD experience, peace, and many other issues.

The mix draws from some of those spoken passages, reworking them into a collage-like, immersive listening experience. It captures the rebellious spirit of the late '60s and contrasts it with distilled contemporary echoes of that very energy, filtered through a modern, digital, and dissociated lens.

Der Opium Queen is a Berlin-based musician, DJ, and visual artist running that voodoo inna down-you-will-get-up style. Deeply entrenched in the murky psychotropic inzwischen, they're no stranger to conscious trudges that leave the unprepared behind in the dust. With a lifelong dedication to the crossed wires that keep culture moving, their music seeks to explore depth, provoke curiosity, and break the mold at every turn.

Morning Mantra invites Der Opium Queen ✧ Turn on, Tune in, Drop out

The next episode is a one hour ode to the psychedelic breaks- going into a deep journey through tribal steps, dark dubbed rhythms and meditative drums. @amanita_p digged through her favourite labels to pick some of the finest mental psy-breakers- setting off for a journey in the depth of druid-steps.

Amanita is a Bologna-raised, Berlin-based dj, party organizer and scenographer. Proud mommy of Sinestesie- collective and DIY party series based in Italy, and Carpet Airlines- experimental cosy-dance oor/slow-rythms winter event series in Berlin. 

She hosts Morning Mantra, a monthly radio show on Radio Alhara where she explores the left  eld side of ambient and has fun with the most odd records digged  around.  

Amanita’s sound expands rhizomatically in a progressive & psychedelic galaxy suspended somewhere in between space and forests. With a particular a  ection for trancy rhythms and a pitching-down tendency, her music journeys are full of trippy loops, ritual atmospheres and gender-bender touches.  

Ambient, downtempo and dance  oor are all parts of the same mycelium,  contaminating each other while existing in di  erent dimensions.  She believes dancing is never about the speed of sound, neither listening about the absence of rhythm- but about the soulful depths of music, combined to the alchemic magics of the narrative process.

"This set is the extract of an epic 10-hours spontaneous b2b during an after at Amanita’s place in Berlin. 
It took us almost 4 hours to understand it was maybe worth recording, and then decided to keep it un-cutted and un-edit, as we feel the raw journey really recreates the energy and vibe of that Monday morning. 
After several hours spent in a notorious club of Berlin, attending to sounds that were not really resonating with us, we arrived home and just felt in need to lose ourselves in more psychedelic, organic and feral rhythms- bouncy, trancy, yet deep and hypnotic sounds. 
We hadn’t played together for a while, and well- that’s was so much fun. 
(special mention to Amanita’s flatmate that fed us with pancakes and beers during the whole process)"

We are thrilled to welcome Abo Abo and Amanita to the channel today, with an excerpt from their set: six hours of continuous journey guided by two artists with deeply unique musical worlds.
Abo Abo, a sound artist, DJ, and producer active since 2015, navigates underground scenes, theaters, clubs, and free parties. His approach blends techno, electroacoustic music, and organic textures, shaped by collaborations with the collectives DE RIO, SARABAMBA, and Fango Radio.
Amanita, a DJ and organizer based in Berlin, crafts a progressive and psychedelic sound influenced by forest raves, DIY parties, and her work with Carpet Airlines as well as the Morning Mantra show on Radio Alhara.
Together, they created Sinestesie, a project born in Bologna that has evolved into a DIY club format focused on intimate dancefloors and unconventional venues.
This set captures their synergy, energy, and shared passion for deep, organic sonic journeys.

Brazilian ornithologist, born 12 July 1930 in São Paulo – died 22 June 2024, Johan Dalgas Frisch researched and published 18 records of birdsong during his carreer. 
Cantos de Aves do Brasil was first released on the Sablà label in 1961, and back then earned his spot in the Top 50 of Brasil's popular record sales.

Filibalou found this record in his grandfather ceiling, discovering in this way that he was quite obsessed with birdwatching and ornithology.

Filibalou is a dj, selector and producer from Bologna (IT)- traveler of the subconscious, knowledge researcher.

Ossaim, son of Nanã and brother of Oxumarê, Euá and Obaluaê, was the lord of leaves, science and herbs—the orisha who knew the secret of healing and the mystery of life, and to whom everyone turned to cure any illness through his leaves.

One day, Xangô, who was the god of justice, decreed that Ossaim should share his leaves with the other orixás. But Ossaim refused.

So Xangô ordered the god of wind to unleash a hurricane and bring all the leaves from Ossaim's forests to his palace.
The god of wind did so, but once at the palace, the leaves lost their healing power.

The orixá king therefore decreed that the power of the leaves should be exclusive to Ossaim, and returned them to him.

Ossaim, however, gave a leaf to each orixá, and with them the enchanted songs, without which the leaves do not work. Ossaim distributed the leaves to the orixás so that they would no longer envy him, and so that they too could cure diseases with herbs.
But Ossaim kept his deepest secrets to himself.

Who’s conscious of its own power it’s not afraid to share it with the others- but only if it’s asked with humble and truth, otherwise it will turn into empty words.
Who can love oneself and recognise its value does not need to speak- they exercise their power in silence.
The sacred leafs will be donated to the ones that ask with kindness.

She believes dancing is never about the speed of sound, neither listening about the absence of rhythm - but about the soulful depths of music, combined to the alchemic magics of the narrative process. She creates her sonic journeys around the idea that ambient is a spectrum and bpm just a number - crafting psychedelic soundscapes by layering sounds and stories through intuition, letting go of pre-defined boundaries of what ambient should or should not sound like.

I played this mix as a kind of sound trajectory through the concept of sickness, healing, treatment and various perspectives around it. I've been a fan of Death is not the end for quite some times and I knew Mark Vernon through previous releases with Canti Magnetici but when they released Sounds of the Modern Hospital I was blown away and terrified. I don't like hospital. So in the mix I tried to go against my fear and to put the incredible recordings into a deeper perspective about healing and sound.

FERA is the primitive and unorganized audio output of Andrea De Franco. He has released most of his music through Maple Death Records and is active in the Italian underground weirdness through the collective undicesimacasa.

Inspired by Barry Bermange and Delia Derbyshire's Inventions for Radio, this programme drifts through the fragile borderland between waking life and dreams. Fragments of remembered sleep — whispered recollections, half-finished stories, impossible landscapes and fleeting emotions — emerge from the darkness, each one acting as a doorway into a carefully chosen piece of music.
Drawing on the dream testimonies collected for The Dreams, the show treats dreams not as narratives to be explained, but as atmospheres to be inhabited. A voice recalls falling endlessly through space; a new track follows, suspended and weightless. Someone describes wandering unfamiliar streets that somehow feel like home; the next selection unfolds with the same uncanny familiarity. Moments of wonder, fear, desire and confusion become signposts, guiding listeners through a sequence of music that mirrors the strange logic of the subconscious.
Rather than interrupting the music, the dream fragments dissolve into it — voices becoming texture, memory becoming rhythm, sleep becoming sound. The result is a continuous nocturnal voyage where documentary and music blur together, inviting listeners to lose themselves in the landscapes of other people's dreams.

Captain of None moves through the outer edges of electronic music, weaving together ambient textures, forgotten soundtracks, field recordings, experimental electronics, and fragile melodic fragments. She invites listeners into a space where time stretches, familiar coordinates dissolve, and sound becomes a landscape to inhabit rather than simply consume.

exploring ─╰┈SEANCE! with Zabrecky (US, 2022)

“It occurred to me that people could conduct their own séances in the comfort of their living spaces, or in nearly any space.”

With this thought, Zabrecky imagined a séance that belongs to everyone. 
From his beginnings as the frontman of post punk band Possum Dixon to his later work as a magician, mentalist and performer, he has always explored the thin line between reality and illusion.

But what exactly is a séance? Traditionally, it is a gathering held to communicate with spirits or entities from another realm, usually guided by a medium acting as a bridge between the living and the unseen. 
In Zabrecky’s vision, however, the séance becomes something anyone can create: a practice that requires no special skills, just the right guidance and, of course, the right record.

In this mix, Marco Ragni follows Zabrecky’s vision and creates a sonic environment that could accompany this DIY ritual, a journey built to enhance the experience.
Now, no need to summon any spirits, but you can still use this mix to open a space of your own. Who knows what might show up.

@marco-ragni is an Italian DJ and producer whose journey has been shaped by years immersed in club culture and sonic experimentation. 
A longtime resident at Serendipity Club, his artistic path has included the duo Plants Army Revolver and continues today with his current projects Saydna, in collaboration with drummer Leonardo Pucci, and Absira, created with Spanish artist ABSIS.
His sound merges ambient atmospheres, downtempo, tribal patterns, bass and techno structures, pulling the listener into a hypnotic, psychedelic sonic landscape.
