Into Black was more of a stylistic choice. My music has always reflected a certain side of me that comes across naturally, particularly my Drum & Bass music. The sound of the EP was more of a throwback to my older sounds and influences, combined with newer elements; I spent a day sampling, then processing, cutting, re-arranging... although I also wanted for the EP to have it's main elements entirely synthesized. Spending time with my peers has taken me out of an old habit, inspiring me to create more. Into Black is a result of that.

With the summer off to an impressive start and already boasting some of the biggest Drum & Bass releases of the year, we’re showing no sign of slowing down by now bringing you this huge new collaboration from Six Blade & A.M.C on Viper Recordings.

As any true Drum & Bass fan will know, these two production powerhouses are forces to be reckoned with when paired up in the studio. Fresh off the recent single, ‘Rock ‘N’ Ride’, and previously teaming up on huge releases such as ‘Try Again / Killa’ in 2013 and ‘Strangers / Punks’ in 2014 on Viper VIP, Brighton-based duo Six Blade and Titan Records boss A.M.C are no strangers to shaking up the scene. Featuring flawless vocals from the influential Ayah Marar – one of the industry’s biggest singing talents – ‘Hardest to Love’ kicks off the single with a powerful, emotional vibe, showcasing a perfect blend of floaty riffs, pulsing bass and immaculate percussion from the get-go. Next up is ‘Ova Dose’, bringing a darker, heavier sound to the table. Drum & Bass nightlife operation turned label, 'Major League DNB' offers their third outing in a string of thoroughly curated releases. This time around international twosome 'Zombie Cats' make their re-appearance on the Holland based imprint. The 3rd installment 'Portal EP' in the label series opens up with a rework of 'Portal' by household 'Shogun Audio' name 'Joe Ford'. The opening track is a somewhat brutal effort that showcases 'Joe Ford's' signature high energy approach whilst cleverly re-assembling the main elements of the original. The original version of 'Portal' kicks in straight after the rework. The title track of the EP is actually a collaboration between Zombie Cats and Berlin Based 'Safra'. Whilst the rework is somewhat of a frenzy, the original effort proves to be a little more on the technoid side of things. 'Little Monsters' is not only the closing down track but also a bonafide dancefloor destroyer.

How long had he been in the waiting room? Time seemed to pass in an orderless fashion within this place, speeding up or slowing down, simply stopping or skipping forwards seemingly in accord with its own whims. Looking up from the television set before him, the man stole a glance at the receptionists at the front desk, who continued working diligently as before with little a thought spared in his direction. Checking his watch next, the man pondered at the time. When had his appointment been? 10 am? The watch read 10:05, and he did hope he might be called back soon. After all it was only a small matter, something wrong with his skin, though exactly what he could not remember. Leaning his head back to peer through the door to the examination rooms, the man noticed handprints adorning the window set within it. How charming that the doctors and nurses had had their children decorate their workplace, he thought with a smile. And such a nice smell the office had too! He hadn’t noticed it at first, but the clinic had a distinct scent of decay, quite alike to smells he had first discovered in the woods behind his grandparents’ house. Yes, that was it, that moist, rotting scent that came to the nose when a curious child first lifted a small log to discover what secrets might lay underneath. The memories flooded back to him. Such pleasant times those were, far removed from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Settling back into his seat, the man smiled, reminiscing in his childhood as another chunk of flesh fell from his cheek.
