Bishnu Prasad Rabha (বিষ্ণুপ্ৰসাদ ৰাভা), was a legendary figure from the Indian province of Assam, well known for his literary and cultural contributions. As an advocate of peoples' cultural movement, he drew heavily from different genres of classical and folk cultural traditions. In his home state, people affectionately called him Kala Guruor  'the master of the arts'. This song is amonst one of his many beautiful compositions.

There are many chants to Ganesh, but a simple and powerful one is this:

Traditionally, Tantrics would use a mala when chanting a mantra. A mala consists of 108 beads with an extra larger one, the "guru bead", to mark the beginning and end of the necklace. You would hold the mala in one hand moving from bead to bead with each repetition of the mantra. One cycle of the beads is called a "round".

And I fail to satisfy them after numerous attempts. I give them this. Call it quirky, crap, or mainstream. 'Baal' is pubic hair in Assamese and a very popular slang. 'Aal' just rhymes with Baal and has no particular meaning.
'Gaaithak' in Assamese means keep singing.

The Assamese speaking population feels they will be outnumbered within their own state by the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2019, (CAB), due to the threat and pattern of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. 

The CAB aims to provide Indian citizenship to Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi and Christian refugees from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh, who entered India on or before December 31, 2014, for having faced religious persecution in those three countries.

On principle, there is nothing wrong in giving shelter to refugees who have faced atrocities in their country, however, the state of Assam will turn into an official dumping ground for Bangladeshi immigrants. At the macro level, the whole of India will not suffer what Assam will suffer in micro-levels. The Assam Accord of 1985 has also been disregarded by the CAB. Any Bangladeshi residing in India for 6 years can apply for citizenship instead of the requirement of 11 years as before. The cut-off date of entry in India which earlier was March 23, 1971, has now been relaxed to December 31, 2014, making people more and more concerned.

The opposition to the CAB is everyone's constitutional right, so it is the right to the agreement. All protests should be in the spirit of the constitution of India by peaceful means and by respecting everyone else's views. Violence and atrocities of any kind should be avoided. However, we stand here to stand against the implementation of the CAB in its current way. The state has to be protected like you would protect your homes and then welcome guests.

This track is inspired by the painting “Nighthawks” by Edward Hopper, 1942. It has a very serene yet mysterious vibe about it. I just imagined what would happen next in the painting a created this short piece.
