"i ve always had a bit of a split personality between really fast,
loud or sensous bangers and all-envelopping, thick-padded, soothing
ambient. in the past i got to share my poppy obsessions du jour directly on the dancefloor back when clubs were still a thing and i was running a silly,
chaotic and very gay monthly party called saint hollywood.

with almost all of my coping mechanisms suddenly unavailable and a bunch of
writing to do, i ve spent most of the past year digging for soft, soothing sounds i can listen to over and over, especially at times when i can barely listen to music at all. 

lexi inviting me to contribute to one of my fav series has been an amazing gift and i hope this little mix does it justice <3"

Nihar (@niharb)has been DJing and producing original music as part of the bay area electronic music scene for more than a decade. He’s been a resident of a number of legendary San Francisco DJ crews including Surface Tension, Warm Leatherette and Haçeteria. He recently founded T.V.O.D., an event series that he curates alongside Jason Polastri and the Creatrix. He’s also an affiliate of the East Bay’s renowned Club Chai collective. 

Nihar is known for high intensity DJ sets that draw from an eclectic blend of global rhythmic influences and elements. As a producer, he infuses his studio work and live performances with this same sensibility. Nihar’s first full length album, Chrysalis, was released in July 2018 on Jacktone Records. His next release is coming on NYC’s Primitive Languages label later in 2019. 

Nihar is also the co-label head (with Chris Zaldua) of Left Hand Path, which has been featured in The Wire, Resident Advisor, Fact Magazine and in other publications for it’s incredible track record of releases. Left Hand Path has a string of records coming in 2019, some of which are featured in this mix.
