A feeling of wandering and softened yearning fills the air; isolation, according to Christian Samsara, heightens our senses and brings up a deeper resonance with music and nature.

This artfully assembled collection of ten tracks captures the numinous essence of cinematic ambient music, IDM, and electronica, enveloping listeners in atmospheres that transcend the everyday, leading them into a lush sonic landscape. OPIA ideates the ambiguous intensity of eye contact, which can extrapolate to the profound connection between the music and its audience.

With influences ranging across a wide palette of rhythms, patterns, and pads, OPIA invites exploration of the liminal spaces between sound and silence. Ultimae announces the reedition and remaster of Leylines, the fourth Ambient Downtempo album by French composer and sound designer Vincent Villuis, aka AES Dana.

Sculpted from field recordings, analog synthesis, and digitally processed textures, Leylines is a deeply immersive and granular journey. This reedited and remastered edition brings greater spatial clarity and depth, revealing new layers of nuance and sonic interplay.

Inspired by the concept of invisible energy paths believed to link sacred and geomagnetic sites, the album explores the subtle connections between musical genres, emotional states, and the living world.

Originally released in 2009, Leylines quickly became a pivotal work in Villuis’s career. What few people knew at the time is that the album was composed in its entirety twice: after a catastrophic disk crash destroyed the original version, Villuis entered a period of deep introspection before starting over. This shock led not only to emotional reckoning but also to a complete reinvention of his creative process.

Leylines became the foundation for a new compositional language — one built on a fresh sonic palette, renewed patterns, and a more sculptural approach to sound. The final result was more distilled, more intentional, and marked a turning point in his musical trajectory. Upon release, the album reached #1 on the iTunes Electronic Music chart, establishing itself as a landmark within the genre.

Rising UK electronica producer Max Cooper has announced his second remix EP for 2012, Reconstructions, to be launched at electronica night FIELDS at Electrowerkz, London July 13.

This marks the first time multi-million selling minimalist soundtrack composer Michael Nyman (The Piano; Gattaca; The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover) has allowed his work to be remixed. It will be released on Sasha’s imprint Last Night On Earth.

The Reconstructions EP comprises two Max Cooper reworks – one abstract, one dancefloor - plus the original of a sparse and emotional Nyman collaboration with songwriter and vocalist David McAlmont, Secrets, Accusations and Charges.	An animated video by regular Cooper collaborator Nick Cobby, filmed with a cast of 20 and an Xbox Kinect, will follow the release.

The original track is drawn from the Nyman / McAlmont 2011 album The Glare, taking Nyman’s theme from the film Gattaca and adding McAlmont’s lyrics inspired by a newspaper story about a quiet suburban Scottish woman who was discovered to be a jewel thief.

As the Gattaca theme is an orchestral piece, both the Deconstruction and Reconstruction are built from samples of only two soundfiles: a track of McAlmont’s voice, and a single track of The Michael Nyman Ensemble playing the Gattaca theme.

Embark on a deep space voyage, drawn by the mysteries of The Great Attractor, an immensely dense gravitational anomaly, located 250 million light years away from our own planet. Track the solitary journey of a single spacecraft, sent on a mission to this massive object in the Centarius supercluster, passing by countless star systems, nebulae, quasars and galaxies.
