Returning to the Balinese jungle, the electronic duo, Ambientronic, feel the echoes and emanations of non-linear timelines lapping over the island like oceanic waves. Dean shows Roman where, in a startlingly short period of time, anti-gravity technology will create the floating islands of the future. They walk the beaches where anti-gravity dance parties will elevate ambient music to new heights. Both halves of the reunited soul fragment feel Bali holds the key to the interconnectedness of things– from the galactically large to the infinitesimally small.

As the EP enters its final track, the album’s energy crests. The remix of Sunset plays with vocal distortions and runs of ambient sound to create a rich, high energy sound wholly its own. As the EP’s final and shortest track, it still manages to pack a big punch. “At Least We Tried” by electronic duo, Ambientronic, captures the linearity of time and space and the limitless possibilities of parallel universes. Existing side by side, these remix tracks and their originals are like stars and their surrounding dark matter. With this ambitious release, they’re flexing their versatility and striking chords across dimensions of time and space.

Sunset (Remix EP Version)

Lilo & Stitch is another upbeat track with high energy. Starting with an effervescent keyboard and fading into playful riffs, percussion, and cymbals, the song is bubbly and playful. The culmination of sound crests just after the 2 minute mark with a deep reverb that echoes through the entire body, taking this song from a cerebral experience to a deeply physical one. Playful and unpredictable layers of percussion play a game of cat-and-mouse, running circles around each other.

Lilo & Stitch (Remix EP Version)

The first notes of the Homeward remix are upbeat with a touch of nostalgia. Meticulous and soulful, the song’s energy feels like a bright pulsar adrift in a sea of possibility. Driven by a simple percussion track that’s high hat-heavy, the track bursts into bright keyboard riffs. As the song fades out into the last high synth notes, it carries the listener along on a hopeful tidal drift of sound.

Homeward (Remix EP Version)

As the first track fades out in emanating waves, the Weekends Are the Enemy remix starts with the lilting notes of a lullaby. The tone quickly evolves as layers of synth rhythm stack onto the xylophonic beat. The discordant layers of sound and rhythms feel like a lullaby wrapped in silky vocals and lush sounds. There’s something dreamlike about the way the ambient melodies play off of each other– emanating waves of sound trickling slowly from the bassline.

Weekends Are The Enemy (Remix EP Version)

The EP’s opening track, Wonderland, features slowed synthetic waves, overlaid by boisterous riffs of sound. The result is equal parts sinister and awe-inspiring, like peering into a blackhole for the first time. When the drums kick in, it pulls the disparate pieces of the track back together and infuses the layers of sound with a renewed energy. Vocals ebb and flow like celestial tides, breaking through in waves. As the centre of the track falls away, listeners can feel momentum gathering for the final moments of this powerhouse opener.
