Shaman Jhon Alexander Castaño

A young Shaman who has become nationally and internationally well known thanks to his regular visits to different countries in America and Europe, he is a practitioner of essential shamanism, a methodology based on the practices and principles shared by the indigenous shamans of the various cultures of the Amazon.

The Taita Jhon Alexander Castaño, heir of the wisdom of the lineage of the Grandfather Laureano Piaguaje of 113 years, highest authority in his community and also of the traditional healers of the Siona Tribe, of the Putumayo Region, who passed away on May 8, 2019, in Mexico City, where he had been invited to participate for a cultural exchange.

During the last years, Taita Jhon Alexander Castaño has developed indigenous projects to protect and safeguard the ancestral traditions of different Colombian native populations. In his project Safeguarding the Traditions of My Ancestors, our Taita seeks the recognition of the traditional Amazonian therapeutic practices involving the indigenous communities, with the aim of recovering the forgotten shamanic wisdom, and preserving the forms of knowledge still practiced by those who survive.

He currently lives in the city of Cali, Colombia, where he is building his own healing center, where he can practice his special gift for which Taita Jhon Alexander Castaño is considered one of the most promising young traditional healers in the country. His preparation for his career involves studies in ethno medicine and ethno botany.  In addition, he coordinates projects to support Indigenous communities. This makes him a very special human being.

All his life has been devoted to practice the knowledge of traditional indigenous medicine in purging detoxification; cleaning young people and adults for addiction to alcohol and psychoactive substances; as well as, removing different physical, mental and spiritual diseases. He has participated in different Encounters of Ancestral Wisdom of the Indigenous Grandparents, in different places of the Colombian Amazon.

Taita Jhon Alexander Castaño has been raised in Putumayo by authentic amazon tribu called Sion. He did his studies in Shamanic and Botanics in Putumayo, Colombia where he earned the name of Taita, the name given to the traditional doctor with a higher level of knowledge inherited from their ancestors. His mission is to offer their knowledge and great love to anyone who desires.

Taita Jhon Alexander Castaño has been practicing shamanism for many decades together with his grandfather Taita Laureano Piaguaje, highest authority of his community, who passed his knowledge and heritage onto Taita Jhon Alexander Castaño. 

With great humility and simplicity, respect and patience, Taita Jhon Alexander Castaño gives a special and personalized treatment to his patients. He is full of Love and Light. He safeguards the wisdom and magic of the indigenous grandfathers and the grandmothers and preserves the sacred plants formulas use by his healer ancestors.
