In a time where depth and subtleties are a rare apparition, Ambra Recordings distinguishes itself from the pack releasing tasteful cuts of drum & bass. After the huge success of The Last Ceremony EP they continue the saga with a digital two tracker by Marseille based music soulchild Joakuim!

We kick off with Channel 23. A track with soft piano licks and chords, deep heartfelt bass and delayed cuts taken from the lovely voice of Aretha Franklin. The endresult is a nimble roller with a melancholic undertone, a refreshing laid back approach to contemporary drum and bass.

For the second track Incognito, Joakuim submerges into a blissful intensity using hovering sounds and scapes as well as some refined synth play. It makes the release intriguing but still accessible and shows a producer who's on top of his game. Quality tones and textures in both tracks, a release well worth checking out!

Operating from Vilnius, Lithuania, Ambra Recordings have been putting out a steady flow of quality drum & bass since June 2010. Now releasing 'The Island EP' by Nova Scotia inhabitant Snug they couldn't have started 2014 any better!

The EP's title track is an airy piece of music containing occasional acid tones, spacious atmospheres and an unconventional drumfunk pattern. The long lasting musical progression will take you on a journey, this is food for the mind body and soul.

On the second track 'Purity Control', Snug holds back regarding the drum work now taking a more minimal approach. The dreamy ambient vibes and FX could remind one of cold winter nights and icy mountains. Truly an extraordinary work of electronica.

Finishing off the EP, 'Just Be Yourself' brings back the intensity this time creating a multitude of layers with different drum breaks and cuts, roaring bass sounds and glistening washes of synthplay. Stylish stuff here! An overall strong release by Snug on a label determined to be different.

We continue with 'Simple Things'. It's an enchanting amen tune with crisp percussion, a funky guitar riff and summery atmospheres. A pervasive sense of energy dances through every element of the track which makes this a remarkable accomplishment from a relatively new producer. We're looking forward hearing more in the future! With an ever expanding following, Ambra Recordings present their latest digital two tracker! This time the goodness comes from Semi Sense, a relatively new face from Vilnuis, Lithuania. The 'Magic Run EP' was put together with a laid-back approach and appealing musical progressions yet demure in delivery, with light-footed drums and crystal clear sounds. Both tracks compliment each other perfectly and bring a welcome change in today's harsh landscape of bombastic kicks, snares and synth sounds. On 'Fear Not' we find a more detaining, uplifting vibe where 'Magic Run To The Sun' lets the mind drift off into daydreams and reminiscence thoughts. Two months after their latest offering by Semi Sense, Ambra Recordings returns to the scene with the Serpentine EP. It's an appetizing four track various artists EP with plenty of soulful, infectious grooves to keep you satisfied. 

Hailing from Amsterdam, ZeroZero blesses us with a track called 'Deliver'. Bouncing off vibes by the likes of Lonnie Liston Smith and Roy Ayers he offers us a prime cut of drum & bass putting us in a state of electric relaxation. We continue with 'Second Glance' by Severity Zero & Blueprint bringing that old-skool sound up to date. With quite a lot of different musical elements they still seem to forge an undivided whole that is light, airy and waiting for listeners to dive right in. Next up are Physics and Champagne presenting their collaborative effort in the form of 'Double Vanity'. The result is a perfect summer time tune with shuffling breaks, subtle percussion and a prominent, deep bassline. Rounding off the EP we find Chinensis. Working out off Essex, UK this relatively new face comes correct on 'Broken Fragments'. Fresh and inviting, the atmospheric elements work perfect in combination with the jagged, bouncey drums.

Eastside Sessions Live From London - June 2011cut

Ambra Recordings welcomes Liverpool based Bevis Bowles-Bray better known as 'Braya' to the label. As a relatively unknown artist he now steps out of the shadow presenting his debut release, the 'Opiation EP'.

We kick off with 'Something About You'. It contains some crystal clear drums and icy stabs underlined by a roaring but smooth bass. Next up is 'Try To Hard'. Laying down smooth chords, mildly delayed shards of sax and dreamy vocals the contagious drum rhythms with plenty of clicks, cuts and edits manage to keep things interesting. 'Lost The Time, Lost The Way' (LTTLTW) is a more abstract piece of work but perfect for an original highlight to any liquid set, melancholic vibes over hard stepping beats! Rounding of the EP 'Wait For You' offers us a more modest vibe with pealing piano licks, rigid drums and a rumbling bass. Building towards an atmospheric breakdown this one definitely brings something fresh to the table. A nice selection.

We continue with Caragua that offers a more ominous vibe with widespread atmospherics and classy strings. The fierce percussion and deep sub are the driving force behind this composition that brings together a bit of light and dark. It's beautifully crafted electronic music, perfect for home listening or the dancefloor. Once again Paul SG proves why he's on top of the game.

First up is 'Goggles & Gauges' that revolves around light weight, hypnotic stabs and textures. Overlayed by sultry chords and the occasional horn sample the SG manages to keep things interesting through the whole course. The breakdown gives us a taste of where he came from and shows us he's not afraid to emphasize the subtleties in drum & bass. Don't be afraid to dive right in!

Random Movement, one of the most renowned Statesside producers out there, proves once again he definitely possesses the Midas touch turning Simplification's laid back roller 'Love Forever' into a bouncy, extremely addictive groove with his trademark sound plastered all over. There are plenty of wah-wah's and repeating vocals to be heard wich make a great combination together with the superb bass that has plenty of (random) movement and grit in the mid section. Strong stuff once again from the Ambra Recordings camp!

The first track Another sets the tone majestically with reverberating stabs over straight forward, stripped back 2 step drum-rhythms. Next up we continue with the EP's title track where the orchestral intro, soulful vocal cuts and housey bassline come together as one for a feel-good frenzy. Guaranteed to get the ladies move their tailfeathers. The third cut Out Of This has a more broken beat approach revolving around ominous delayed piano licks and subtle mid bass movement. London based artist 'Jaskin' is making his Ambra Recordings debut with ''That Way EP''.
A sturdy package of ominous Drum & Bass sounds that have a soundtrackish feel to them.
The title track is tough effort that uses strong drum-programming and soothing synth
sounds to cover a lot of ground. The back bone is a vocal sample that is cleverly returning
a only a few times but therefor has great impact. ''In Your Eyes'' is a work of cinematic proportions.
The collaboration with fellow Londoner ''Uneven'' is beautifully orchestrated and yet has serious
dance floor qualities. For the third track in this package, Jaskin delivered another solo work called
''Feel It''. A female vocal is supported by rolling drums and a soaring bassline that build slowly
towards the pinnacle. That Way Ep is available through all specialized retailers starting June 4, 2018.

In Your Eyes

“Wind” is the first track of the EP. This track is the way Robtopus wanted to appreciate and remember the summer of 2017. Wind is a piano based track with air breezes from the sea and a smooth bassline. When the piano melody was written, Robtopus already knew this track should be called ‘Wind'.

“Taking Over Me” is the second track of this EP. It describes the stressy and blurry times for Robtopus in the winter of 2017. Taking Over Me is a track full of piano elements, pads and it has a deep active bassline.
