The Heart Sutra (Sanskrit::Prajñāpāramitā Hṛdaya Sūtra, Japanese: Hannya Shingyo) is one of the Prajñāpāramitā (Perfection of Wisdom) sutras of Mahāyāna Buddhism.  It is an incredibly popular teaching which is chanted daily in most Zen centres worldwide.  

This audio reading has been carried out for the benefit of Buddhist students and others who would like to read the text but struggle with physical books for whatever reason, or would just prefer an audio version.  This reading is from the Red Pine (Bill Porter) translation of the text which can be purchased in book format. It has been pointed out by more than a few scholars that this section of the sutra, differs in both content and language from the rest of the text and, as such, is probably a latter addition, possibly added at the resquest of an unknown patreon who paid for copies to be made.
