The compilation EP ‘In to the B’ by Short Finger and Stann Lumo is the musical result of the emotions, inspirations, and desires they gained through a trip they took together in Berlin. Despite being different individuals, they both felt and empathized with an indescribable something during the trip and became devoted to pursuing it, which was undoubtedly absent in them before the journey. The something that still cannot be defined came to them without any logical or formal boundaries, and it became a unique standard for them that can be applied to any auditory, external, or ideological aspect. They began to call it "B".

Short Finger and Stann Lumo release an EP that contains four tracks, with each of them contributing two tracks, based on the emotions and memories of their trip, which they translated into B's musical standards. They aimed to create a sound that matches the grandeur and fantasy of the dance floor where they experienced, and that suits the system, featuring a gradual buildup and a continuous flow in the layout of the tracks.

Both of them have a distinct musical style due to their consistent stage experiences as resident DJs at Faust, and they have been actively improving their musical abilities as artists in the producing field. With the release of ‘In to the B’, they are expected to have a clearer musical standard than before. Hope listeners can discover together what B means to them by listening every tracks.

Short Finger 와 Stann Lumo의 컴필레이션 앨범 ‘In to the B’는 함께 떠난 베를린 여행을 통해 얻은 감정, 영감, 열망의 음악적 결과물이다. 서로 다른 이 둘은 이번 여행을 통해 말로 설명할 수 없는 동일한 무언가를 느끼고 공감하고 추구하고 그것을 맹신하게 되었으며 그것은 분명히 이 여행 이전에는 둘에게 없던 것이었다. 아직도 무엇이라 정의할 수 없는 그것은 어떠한 형태적 논리적 경계없이 둘에게 다가왔으며 그것은 청각적으로도, 외적으로도, 신념적으로도 그 어느곳에도 대입할 수 있는 둘만의 어떤 기준이 되었다. 둘은 그것을 B라고 표현하기 시작했다.

Short Finger와 Stann Lumo는 이 여행의 감정과 기억을 B의 음악적 기준으로 풀어내어 각각 2곡씩 총 4곡이 수록된 EP를 발매했다. 플로어에서 경험한 그곳의 장엄함과 환상, 그리고 그 시스템에 어울리는 사운드를 구현하고자 했으며 점진적인 빌드업과 끊이지 않는 흐름의 레이아웃이 특징이다.

둘은 모두 클럽 Faust 의 레지던트 디제이로 활동하며, 꾸준한 무대 경험을 통해 독보적인 음악적 색채를 보유하고 있으며 프로듀싱 분야에서도 꾸준한 활동으로 아티스트로써의 음악적 역량을 높이고 있다. 이번 In to the B 릴리즈를 기점으로 둘의 음악적 행보에 이전보다 훨씬 명확한 기준이 생겼을거라 확신하며 과연 이 둘에게 B는 어떤 의미일지 수록곡을 들으며 함께 찾아갈 수 있기를 바란다.

The EP, Darkness System, by Short Finger was created while the artist was analyzing his own life throughout the darkness of electronic music. As the artist was exploring his past days, he conceptualized his future and turned this experience into a track. The logical consequence of his life was inspired by Nnamael(Subverted Label)'s set which the artist encountered for himself in Berlin. The artist and Nnamael connected and had a conversation about how dark techno music can heal audiences. Nnamael also worked on the remix as they formed solidarity through the darkness of techno.

Short Finger has discovered a brain system that predicts the future based on data from past and current events. Integrating electronic sounds into brain structure signifies the expansion of thoughts and the breaking down of fixed ideas, allowing for diverse thinking and upgrading the brain's capacity and speed similar to the CPU and GPU of a computer. The lively movement of neurons and the process of breaking down barriers and creating various results when thoughts meet were expressed through synth rhythms. Through this, a story was crafted suggesting that solving dilemmas in the brain leads to a body shine.

파우스트의 레지던트 쇼트핑거는 과거에 일어난 수많은 사건들의 이유와 결과를 분석하여 현재를 예측했고 그것이 실시간으로 눈에 보이는 현상에 확신을 얻어 미래를 보는 뇌 시스템을 완성했습니다. 전자음을 뇌 구조에 주입하여 생각과 고정관념의 장벽을 확장하고 다양한 생각을 하며 컴퓨터의 CPU와 GPU처럼 Brain의 용량과 속도를 업그레이드 할 수 있다는 의미를 담았습니다. 뉴런이 활발하게 움직이는 모습과, 생각과 생각이 만나 장벽을 허물고 다양한 결과를 만드는 과정을 신디사이저 리듬에 담았으며 이를 통해 뇌 속 고민을 해결하고 명확한 비젼을 찾으면 깨끗하고 건강한 신체를 가질 수 있다는 스토리를 구성했습니다.

Jinan’s debut EP on Ameniia Records unfolds as a journey into the shadowy realms of minimal techno—an exploration where every track contributes its own colour to an evolving narrative.

“Pansori” opens the record with a reduced pulse that immediately sets a dark, tribal tone. Here, abstract Korean folk vocals “Pansori” blend with sparse, percussive elements, evoking distant echoes from an underground ritual.

Building on that foundation, “Sapphire Glare” moves forward with renewed
intensity. Anchored by a powerful low-end and an experimental approach to sound design, it lays a robust groove that radiates a subtle yet undeniable luminescence.

The narrative deepens with “Monitoring,” where the energy takes a darker turn. Sinister forces unite into a dense atmosphere, while hypnotic, swinging synths pulse through the track—each beat a magnetic pull into the realm of audible mystery.

In a striking contrast, “Illuminating” performs the final act layered in shimmering light. Dreamy, bright dub elements guide the groove into a luminous vision, maintaining kinetic energy while crafting a floating, otherworldly atmosphere.

Together, these four chapters form a dynamic exploration through the interplay of darkness, light, and experimental minimal techno.

'Helical' is a work composed of four organically structured tracks, based on Hypnotic Techno and Hard Groove. Grotesque textures, twisted rhythms, and various sonic layers take center stage, pulling the listener beyond the boundaries of reality.

The name 'Helical' symbolizes not only the structural characteristics of the music but also the experience of dissonance and disconnection, as well as the mental trajectory of deconstruction and reconstruction of the self within that context. The tracks unfold like a spiral that constantly progresses and distorts, rather than relying on simple repetition. This conveys to the listener a sensation akin to the endless flow of thought without a clear destination, or the feeling of being trapped in a space with no exit.

Through this album, ROS3 externalizes the discomfort of humanity hidden within mechanical rhythms, and the clash between the reality faced and the inner self, through sound. It is a sonic translation of the disharmony and anxiety lurking beneath the surface of reality, and the fundamental sense of dislocation about existence. This approach is manifested in a cold and densely designed sound across the tracks, each containing varying degrees of destruction and tension, yet all organically connected like a massive structure.

The city of Seoul is an explosive epicentre for 21st century culture. Brimming with both visual and auditory nuances, the compilation manages to grasp hold of these sonic intricacies, enveloping a retrospect of a pedestrian’s journey. The hypernaturality of the urbanised landscape comes under auditory construct, the scaffolding for new sound enterprise - executed clearly with the precision indicative of a far-eastern production; futuristic, yet vaguely familiar.

The breathy pumping of Marcus L’s Underwater is reminiscent of a late night walk, the echoes of a flaneur leaving traces across an ambient city.

K-Express opens with arpeggiating leads that are in a high-speed chase after each other. These 3/4 arp leads on top of the 4/4 heavy kicks sets off the EP with a dense and progressive tone. From Paris, Illnurse sends his interpretation of K-Express with raw bass lines and violently thrusting subs. A dark atmosphere emerges, while Acid Bath materializes in thick waves of twisted rhythms caused by layers of 303 bass lines coupled with a dubby low-end. Also, Joon Kwak collaborates with Jorengthericecake on Drowner's Highway to close the EP with textured, melancholic synths. Finally, from a dark and intense vortex, the EP ends with an uplifting and yet nostalgic story.

Joon Kwak is a resident DJ/producer of the '212' underground collective in Eindhoven. With this collective, he organizes raves in the south of the Netherlands carrying on the free-party rave culture from the 90's. In Asia, he is a regular at the renown club Faust, Seoul.
