Clear as spring water, the memory of Shoal's beautiful live set echoing through the Norwegian mountains, finally sharing the stage together at Monument (@monument-podcast) after meeting in Amsterdam several years ago. Those familiar with our dear friends at Harmony Rec (@harmony-rec) will be undoubtedly familiar with Kenny's impeccable body of work, and for the rest an eye-opening treat awaits. British-Nigerian-born, Berlin-based Richard Akingbehin (@richard-akingbehin) is behind many crucial projects in electronic music, and most of them revolve around his exploration of deep and dubby sounds. Not only is he a co-founder of the excellent Refuge Worldwide radio station, but he also runs the experimental label Kynant Record and has some key residencies when not headlining other cult clubs around the world. His label recently released the first new album from dub techno don Tikiman in almost 20 years and this summer the pair will be playing together again as part of a mini tour. 

Ahead of joining us at Dekmantel Selectors later this year, Richard recorded this week's mix for us in the Refuge Worldwide studio with the aim of showcasing what he is playing in the clubs at the moment. It takes in his signature blend of dub techno styles with music from the likes of Parallel 9, Tikiman, Dialog and Delano Smith. It's spacious and unhurried but slowly ramps up the pressure to get you on your toes and vibing to his ever-warm, supple and minimal rhythms.

Our twice-a-year trips to upstate New York are something we truly cherish. There’s a special magic in that barn, I swear. This time, we had friends representing 11 nationalities, each bringing their unique backgrounds and stories. Yet there we were, gathered in the heart of the Catskill Mountains, sharing laughter, tears, good food, and incredible music.
Every trip has its own character, and this one was no different. I’m thrilled to share the recording of my Saturday night set, which followed Kim Kenis’s phenomenal 4-hour journey. It felt like a natural progression to start with some deep, dubby tracks and gradually build the tension. I’m really happy with how the mix turned out, and I hope it resonates with you, too. Finishing the set brought such a feeling of joy. One I know I’ll hold onto for a long time.
Here’s to more music, memories, and the connections that make it all worthwhile.
