Cantando la Navidad (Villancicos en tiempos de pandemia)
7º Villancico: ¿quién es Niño?
Conforme pasan los años me doy cuenta de la cantidad de referentes musicales que hay en mi vida -y en la de mayoría de las personas-; muchas canciones me devuelven al momento que las escuche por primera vez y algunas las he perseguido hasta conseguir “hacerme” con ellas. En su tiempo fue un disco, un casette o un CD. Con los medios actuales y con tiempo y ganas intento grabarlas. Tenfo una buena colección de recuerdos en mi biblioteca de itunes.
Una de ellas es “Greensleeves” que escuché por primera vez a los 13 años en una película, “La Conquista del Oeste”; en una escena en la que Gregory Peck abandona una partida de póker porque oye una canción y va a ver quien la canta, es Debbie Reynolds que canta “Greensleeves”
Más tarde escuché muchas versiones, sobre todo de los grupos Folk/country americanos como The Bothers Four, otro de mis ídolos antes de conocer a Peter, Paul & Mary. Fuero apareciendo versiones y versiones del tema, hasta que la escuché, como villancico de origen inglés atribuido a Enrique VIII, en la famosa edición del “Mundo canta ante una cuna” del año 72. La aprendí de oído -como todo- y la he tocado alguna vez con la guitarra en la Misa del Gallo, mientras llevaban al Niño al presbiterio (fondo de guitarra y el texto, traducido por el propio Orfeón en el programa e mano): 
¿Quién es ese Niño
que descansa
en el regazo de María?
¿Está dormido? 
¿A quién saludan los ángeles
con dulces cánticos
mientras los pastores 
le guardan?
Éste es Cristo Rey,
a quien guardan los pastores
y cantan los ángeles.
Pronto, pronto, traed al Niño Dios, 
al Niño, al hijo de María.
¿Por qué yace 
en tan pobre establo,
donde se alimentan el buey y el asno?
Buen cristiano teme, 
porque los pecadores

por la palabra callada.

No he sido de cantar este texto, pero con la ayuda de YouTube he encontrado alguna traducción que refleja lo fundamental del texto original del Villancico y grabarlo, acompañado de la guitarra y de algunos arreglos añadidos -22 pistas- con el GarageBand (Glockenspiel, arpa, contrabajo, sección de cuerda, flauta, órgano y clave)
En este caso no canta Ana porque la grabé en los días de la faringitis
