For our 50th edition and almost a year since the inception of this mix series we are ecstatic to have one of the undisputed legends of the house and techno scene to celebrate this milestone: @djnickwarren.

You can tell when Nick Warren is on the decks. The music emanating from the DJ booth is that perfect club mix of driving percussion and soaring musicality, bursting out of the speakers, soaking everyone in melody, drenching them in sound.

To this day, Warren remains at the forefront of club culture: he packs clubs and arenas worldwide from London to Buenos Aires to Burning Man, transfixing dancefloors with his distinctively forward blend of credible progressive sounds, deeper tunes, atmospheric layers and any other grooves Warren deems appropriate for his turntable.

Nick Warren became one of the first so-called "superstar DJs" in the mid-to-late '90s, holding down a high-profile residency at Cream in England, touring around the world, and appearing on several DJ mix albums before they became commonplace. Though he spun an eclectic array of dance styles in the late '80s and early '90s, he eventually championed the late-'90s trance sound of labels like Hooj Choons and joined the ranks of other superstar DJs like Paul Oakenfold, Sasha, and Tall Paul.

Warren moved to Bristol in the 1980s after having just turned 20. By the early '90s, he was one of the city's top DJs, spinning upstairs at Vision, one of the city's first super-clubs. At the time, Warren spun everything from dub and hip-hop to house, which became his preferred style.

When fellow Bristol artists Massive Attack left to tour America in the wake of their early success, they invited Warren to accompany them on tour as their official DJ, a testament to his turntable skills as well as his reputation at the time. Eventually, Warren began a massively successful stint as the resident DJ at Cream in Liverpool.

The years that followed saw Nick Warren enjoy a whirlwind of success. Through a combination of providing acclaimed mixes for Mixmag, DMC, and the hugely successful Global Underground series, and releasing a string of club-smashing solo singles, Warren found himself catapulted into the electronic and house big leagues; and, by continuing to release acclaimed albums, singles, and remixes with his Way Out West partner-in-crime, Jody Wisternoff, and remixing tracks for the likes of Lana Del Rey, he firmly established himself as a truly multi-faceted producer of top-quality dance music.

Having already graced the decks at every self-respecting super-club on the planet and made his name as a superstar DJ, the late Noughties saw Warren turn his hand to the business side of the music industry. Now, as the A&R of Bristol-based Hope Recordings, he spends his time seeking to hone and promote the next generation of club-smashing DJ and production talent; and, through the expansion of his label The Soundgarden into a globe-straddling international events and entertainment brand, set in stone his already firmly-established reputation as a giant of electronic, techno, and house music.

Lucas Rossi was born in the city of Córdoba, Argentina in 1988.

His interest in electronic music was born around the year 2000 listening house and trance
and over the years he evolved towards deep house and progressive house.

His career as his DJ began in 2011 and throughout it he has had the
possibility of taking his music to the most important cities of Argentina as
well as to European territory. He has shared the stage with great artists from
the national and international scene such as Henry Saiz, Martin García, Cid
Inc, Sahar Z, Robert Babycz, Cubicolor, Stelios Vassiloudis, Eelke Kleijn, Khen,
Chicola, Roy Rosenfeld, Dimitry Molosh, among others.

From the year 2012 he began to take his first steps in music production trying
to achieve his own musical identity and over time he has managed to edit on
labels such as Black Hole Recordings in the legendary compilation "In Search
Of Sunrise", The Soundgarden, Dreamers, among the most prominent.

The former collaboration also led to Praveen remixing the title track – We Are All We Need for their latest album's India edition.

No stranger to the electronic music scene, signing his first release at 18 years old to "Acute Recordings, USA" in 2006 and subsequently winning a remix contest which was hosted by "Bellarine Recordings, AU" in 2007. Influenced by the likes of Sasha, Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed, Satoshi Tomiee, Martin Garcia, Seb Fontaine to name a few. His style is characterised by a warm, driven, deep and atmospheric sound.

Andy Ef, an electronic music DJ and producer, born in 1987 in Cairo, Egypt. Played the piano at a young age, always been inspired by music, it was around the year 2000 when he discovered electronic dance music and from there a strong passion helped develop his own musical identity in years to come.

A regular on the Sydney scene, with appearences at Return To Rio, Blueprint, S*A*S*H, Electric Gardens, Bootz 'N' Catz, Subsonic Music, We Love, Night Groove and more he's a Sydney favourite for his dreamy progressive driving track choices and skill at creating a seamless journey through his sets.

He has managed to share the decks with some of the world's best DJs including Sasha, Hernan Cattaneo, Lee Buuridge, Eelkie Kleijn, Super Flu to name a few

Ich drehe das alte Radio auf volle Lautstärke und mein Fuß fängt an zu wippen. Schlagartig setzt das altbekannte Gefühl ein. Glückshormone durchströmen meinen Körper und mir kribbelt es im Bauch. Meine Gliedmaßen brechen aus ihren stumpfen gehirngesteuerten Schattendasein aus und erlangen Stück für Stück ihre Autonomie zurück. Aus dem Wippen des Fußes werden erste zaghafte Tanzschritte und mein schamgeleiteter Widerstand schwindet. Wenige Sekunden später sind meine Bewegungen bereits fließend und folgen einer erdachten Choreografie.
Mein spontaner Stimmungsausbruch gepaart mit der lauten Musik erregen schnell Aufmerksamkeit. Erste Menschen bleiben stehen und schauen interessiert zu. Bald darauf habe ich erste Mitstreiter auf der großen Wiese, welche uns als Tanzfläche dient. Die Musik zieht immer mehr Passanten des Parks an und nach und nach füllt sich die Wiese. In mir wächst das Gefühl, dass ich all diese Menschen mit meiner Freude angezogen habe und sie diese nun teilen. Eine unglaubliche Euphorie verbreitet sich in meinem Körper und der Geist des Aktionismus wächst in mir. Ich will diese Stimmung ausnutzen, um meiner Rolle als Botschafter der Musik gerecht zu werden. Flink wie eine Katze erklimme ich den nächstgelegenen Baum und bewege mich dort rhythmisch zur Musik weiter. Dort bleibe ich bis die Musik aus dem Radio verstummt und die Menge ein wenig ratlos zurück lässt. Ich ergreife das Wort und erkläre, dass man den Schöpfer dieser musikalischen Feinkost bald in der Nähe live erleben kann. Gemurmel macht sich unter den Leuten breit. Einige fangen an zu applaudieren. Nachdem ich Ort und Datum des nächsten ComRa Events mitgeteilt habe, erfahre ich viel Zustimmung. Viele der heutigen Tänzer wollen vorbeikommen und mit mir dort weiterfeiern.

Hailing from Ireland’s east coast, the aspiring Dublin born artist has made a mark in his adopted Australian home, witnessed by a career path that continues to rise on a rapidly upwards trajectory. Falling in love with dance music in the 90s as an avid collector of early rave and Goa trance vinyl, amháin gradually developed an ear for the deeper, more considered sounds of progressive house courtesy of Sasha, Guy J and Hernan Cattaneo.

As comfortable behind the decks as he is in the studio, amháin has achieved an impressive reputation as warm-up DJ for such celebrated artists as Lee Burridge, Hernan Cattaneo, Mathew Dekay and YokoO. Fully versed in the niche skillset required to fill a dancefloor with a buzzing anticipation prior to a headline slot, the highly respected amháin is himself no stranger to the big stage. Performances at some of the leading global festivals are testament to this success as Burning Man, Lightning in a Bottle and Rainbow Serpent have all witnessed amháin’s immaculately crafted sets. Able to translate those skills to the more intimate club environment, Berlin’s Sisyphos and Los Angeles’ Pattern Bar are also prominent names on a polished resumé.

A nascent production career is equally notable with a growing portfolio of high-class production material. Making his commercial debut in March 2020, with the Melodic Techno gem, “Antecedent” as part of Sound Avenue’s “Correlation” series, remixes for 3rd Avenue and Massive Harmony Records lit up the latter part of 2020. 2021 has begun in no less impressive fashion with a standout reworking of Mariner + Domingo’s “Lose Control” for Particles before June saw the beautiful “Crowe” find its way onto the ever-reliable The Purr.

Recently welcomed to Meanwhile Recordings by Australian progressive house royalty, GMJ & Matter, amháin continues to find himself at the vanguard of the underground house scene. As resident label DJ, amháin continues to find his DJ skills in high demand through a mix series that continues to grow on Spotify and Apple Music. In parallel, a production career continues to gather momentum with a plethora of exciting releases across 2021 and beyond.
