Amine K - Deep Purple (Remastered, 2005, Paris)

Hamza was the definition of a dj, always with a big smile on his face, an amazing capacity to share the love and a contagious joy of life! From being a promoter to a club manager to a dj to a friend, Hamza did so much for the Moroccan scene and we will always be thankful to him for that. He passed away on the 17th of october 2015 at the age of 41. May you rest in peace my friend, we will keep on your legacy.

3 QUESTIONS to AMINE K:

Q: Talking about your classics selection. How did these tracks change your life once?

A: I come from a very diverse background in Electronic Music, from Classic House to Progressive and everything in between. However the first time I really met the bass in front of a proper sound system was at an after hour and after this I became addicted to those environments. With this set I tried to recreate this deep, dark, dirty and filthy ambiance that I used to love so much, obviously this set is not for the fainted hearts.

Q: From Morocco to the world: how would you describe the electronic music development in your home country?

A: The development has been unbelievable, when we started more than 10 years ago people were laughing at us, now you have up to 10 different underground electronic music parties every weekend around Morocco. Also we have more an more super talented DJs and producers which gives us hope that one day we can be like any other big electronic music nation.

Q: Which exciting projects are on the way this year?

A: We’re celebrating our 8th year anniversary at Moroko Loko and we have some really nice parties on the pipe line. I’m also releasing a few EPs on label that I have been loving for ages, adding to that the launch of our label Prometheus and some amazing gigs all around the world, I’m feeling this year is gonna be a pretty good one.

The First Days of the Decade - Amine K

This one's for your heart and your soul: Amine K's favorite sip is a glass of neat rum. For todays exclusive episode on Schirchendrink Morocco's ambassador for electronic music used the best of soulful, vocal-ish ingredients. The result is an incredibly beautiful and very special sip!

Amine’s self prescribed job description is to put a smile on people’s faces by sharing his music, be that as a DJ or through his productions, happiness is at the core of everything he does.

Through production and DJing, Amine discovered a life without restrictions, a distinct purpose to pursue. The majority of Amine’s productions feature ode’s to his African roots, however, his musical influences vary from Danny Tenaglia, to Deep Dish, Nick Warren, and even BB King.

His selective label appearances have been poignant moments in his music career. Sol Selectas proved to be a launchpad to the world, their family a most welcoming one. More recent releases on the likes of Alex Niggeman’s Aeon and the esteemed Get Physical Music are a marker of where Amine’s sound is moving.

As a touring artist, he has embraced the unknown, planting the electronic music flag in new territories around the world, helping to develop real underground communities everywhere from Myanmar to Mauritius.

On more familiar terrain, in 2019 he made his Boiler Room debut at the Grid in Dubai alongside stop- offs for his Moroko Loko party at Montreal, Tokyo, Paris and Berlin. The party provides a twin benefit, often bringing international acts to Morocco for the first time while also introducing African influences to the world. 
Not to mention his annual presence at Burning Man, his sunrise sets at Robot Heart the perfect summation of his musical identity.

Amine K’s progressive sounds, direct a journey, deep and united. It’s about fueling a connection on the dance ﬂoor with a melodic story and organic rhythm.
While internationally moving bodies, Amine Akesbi doesn’t neglect his home: he’s been streamlining the new face of Morocco’s dance scene with the Moroko Loko concept since 2009. The music party brand, and driving dance force of the country has already found satellites in cities like Paris, London, Tokyo and Singapore.

Morocco’s latest cutting edge festival, ‘Oasis’, has too grabbed Amine K and dubbed him resident DJ. Next up is a series of Road to Oasis gigs, bringing your favorite electronic cities- a ﬂavor of the desert.

Amine’s latest EPs include releases on Sol Selectas, Buddah Bar, Bar 25, Souvenir Music, Selador, Souvenir Music, and Be Crazy. Next up is releases on Akbal Music, Prometheus and many more.

2019 gears up to be a productive year for Amine, as Marrakech will ﬁnd itself having a new professional studio hub, synthesized by the seasoned hands of the musician himself. New upcoming global tours and long awaited label releases are just a symptom of the work paid off.
