Pleased to say that this 120 minutes defined a generation. 1999 was such a golden year for Trance music and many people reference this very set as opening their eyes to the power of Trance.

It's hard to believe how groundbreaking and well-polished some of the tunes that I selected and played out, really were!! This mix still sounds timeless judging by today's standards and features tunes from the likes of Tiesto and Ferry Corsten, long before they became household names. It will appeal to all those who love it fresh, raw and pumping!!! Ladies and gentlemen, 20 years ago to this month, I created my second Essential Mix (of four) which was broadcast on BBC Radio 1.

Chris Jennings, one half of the well-known duo Hemstock & Jennings is presenting to us his latest single Nothing To Fear that features vocals by Sarah Jayne Tuson. The track starts with swirly and aggressive synths giving it power boost from the very beginning. Once the main leads get introduced we also hear the amazing vocals by Sarah that complement the instrumental perfectly making this track quite stand out from the norm. The breakdown breaths with a certain dose of mystery with those unique stabs and ethereal pads that slowly get picked up by the main leads, putting us back on track.

The first part of an epic journey into trance. Thijs Michiel Verwest also known as DJ Tiësto set a "milestone" in the Trance music industry by making Trance accesible to a (maybe) mainstream public. He's and will stay one of the pioneers in Trance. He revolationized it to a greater extend he intended to.

It's not often that Gatecrasher's most globally acclaimed DJ Residents appear on the same billing and it's certainly not often that they do a special b2b set to celebrate 25th birthday festivities. 

As most may know, Matt Hardwick retired from DJ duties back in 2011 to focus on his legal career. He left behind a legacy and devoted following in Sheffield so it's always a pleasure to have him return to share the decks for this unique occasion. 

Just listening back to this mix, gives me personal goosebumps as Matt and I wanted to steer away from the typical classic anthem fuelled Trance mix which seems to be doing the rounds lately. We carefully selected the tracks for the night with more emphasis on what made the Gatecrasher compilations so superb, good quality tunage. 

On this night an epic DJ battle ensued in full flow so be sure to prepare yourself for an authentic Trance showcase of powerful music.
