The Great Divide

After long days of wandering alone in the desert; and upon the brink of death I collapse next to the mouth of a small cave. To my surprise there is a small indentation on the ground next to me filled with clear, shimmering water.  I stick my face into this tiny pool and draw all of the water out in one gasping sip.  The cool, clear, sweetness of this water… it is intoxicating.  Somewhere in the back of my parched mind I know that it might be the fact that I had not seen water for ages… but this is different.  I can feel this water still, enveloping me from within, cooling, healing and refreshing my blood steam.  The tiny indentation where the water had been is dry; does not even appear to have had any liquid to begin with.  I reach into it and pull out a handful of dry sand.  Was it a hallucination?  Yet I am more present then ever before.  My parched mouth is wet once again.  This is when I again notice the small opening in front of me.  A slight cool wind emanates from within and the faintest sound of moving water tantalizes my ears.  Without much hesitation I squeeze myself into the hole and begin to crawl towards the source of the sound...
