I really liked this song when I first heard it, but when I got to the second verse I was somewhat disappointed that takes the stance that he does. While it is awful that people do take advantage of benefits from taxpayers, many more of those people depend on it. Disabled veterans alone make it worth having these institutions in place (and yet they are usually abandoned by the system), even if some people are going to take advantage of it. Rather, its the leaders taking advantage of all of us we should really be worried about.

But I didnt do all this to be political. Its inevitable that I have to cross that point given the nature of the original lyrics, but the whole point of my rewriting it is to have a version that both left and right can agree on and be inspired by. The sheer irony of extremist polical views is that we all just wind up fighting with each other, instead of taking down the 'rich men' together. And thats exactly what they want us to do. I changed the lyrics to highlight this fact, and I don't care if you hate them.

Also, know that this is NOT a pleasant song to listen to, nor is it intended to be. It is intended to be irregular, unnerving, perturbing and agonizing. I wrote it initially to play with the gaps between notes and the sounds of notes cutting out, and then poured in the negativity swirling in my own life at the time. I ask that you focus on how the sounds make you feel, not so much the actual chords/notes being played.

Negative Space

I was drawn to work on this song from the sentiment of kindness that someone/something might care for a loved one, even when they are not within reach. I would not call myself religious or christian, but I think that even though this song was originally written with a christian focus, one can see the underlying expression of good will and health that I find wonderful. It is a short song; with only one verse and chorus of the original version from William G. Tomer and one I arranged, but it is quite uplifting and enjoyable I think. Unfortunately, I do not have a choir at my disposal, nor colleagues that could lend me their vocal chords, so I used a choir sound-font to create this short song. The lyrics, however, bring meaning to the song, as it is a hymn. The lyrics for Mr. Tomer's song (at least, from the version that I arranged) are as listed below:

It's short. It's a bit over-the-top sometimes, and it's simple. But music's awesome in that it can express things that words can't; like the anxiety-ridden time that I started writing this song however many moons ago. Then, about sixty hours of writing and rewriting later, this popped out.
Sounds best through headphones, but speakers are just fine too. 
*Disclaimer* I wrote all of these notes (and changed their properties to get them sweet dynamics) in FL Studio, I can't play this on a piano. But that ain't stopping me from making the tunes that spring from my soul
