Soho Rezanejad (b. 1989, New York City) is a Danish Iranian artist and composer. Since 2015, she has recorded over ten albums reaching wide acclaim for her versatile vocal performance and prolific practices in electronic music. Her work encompasses performative alter-egos and cross-disciplinary collaborations that are released through her record label Silicone Records.

Soho Rezanejad - Meets (Part 1-3)

Hildegarda(aka Agnese Menguzzato) is an Italian composer & musician based in Berlin. She is our second mentee of the month! Classically trained, she then started experimenting with electroacoustic compositions and electronics, seen as a timeless vehicle to reach a wider spectrum of aural possibilities. She often employs the auditory potential of her lute to create uncanny paths in the harmonic and tonal sequences of her work. Her constant sonic research reflects also her early fascination for polyphonic choir music from Renaissance and the Middle Ages. 

Hildegarda’s musical expression is deeply rooted in her childhood imagery and in the confront with nature, from which every human sentiment flows; having lived between Trentino Alps and Emilia Apennines, she’s driven to create sonic landscapes, in which she gathers and combines raw and digital sounds. Her music laps various fields of application in media. She’s currently involved in a project on the sound perception in Japanese culture through Shinto rituals.

Sara Persico (1993, Naples) is an Italian sound artist, performer and video-maker. She channels her energy in the research of the voice and sound, diving into multiple instrument possibilities and radical improvisation practices through electronics. Her interest and research include a strong visual approach in her impulsive performances.Sara holds a BA from the Conservatory of Napoli and a Master's Degree from the Conservatory of Bologna. In November 2018 she has been selected for the Temp Studio multimedia residency in Lisbon (PT), where she presented her solo performance 7ST for voice, electronics and screening of videos. Among her collaborations, the performance GOLD directed by Francesca Grilli premiered at 40° sopra la Performance and Santarcangelo Festival in 2018. In 2019 the duowith Ignacio Córdoba debuted with a tour in Germany and Poland, while in May 2020 they released their first album for the Italian label Luminance Records. Her composition Superficie has been exhibited at Fondazione Sassi in Matera (IT). She released the album Ruh in October 2020 in collaboration with Melih Sarigöl for the label Base Materialism (Newcastle).Sara presented her work during several tours in Europe; she performed in venues and festivals such as Bologna Elettrica, Discomfort Dispatch, Geografie del Suono, Multiversal, Bologna Jazz Festival, Napoli Teatro Festival, Santarcangelo Festival, Damas Lisboa, MultiMadeira, Zaratan Arte Contemporanea, O Salgado Faz Anos Fest, Vorspiel, Radical DB, among others.

Cecilia Tosh is co-founder of the collective SEV Berlin, a powerful network that supports newcomer DJs and producers in club culture since 2018. She is DJ and Producer and beside Berlin venues such as Wilde Renate, Kater Blau, Sisyphos and HÖR Berlin, she performed in several clubs and festivals in the UK, France, Hungary, Poland and Israel. "Schienenersatzverkehr" is her own event series at Golden Gate Berlin and her debut EP "Run with the wolves" has just been released on her freshly baked independent label SEV Records.

Cecilia Tosh - No Blank

Felisha Ledesma is a multi-disciplinary artist currently based in Berlin, GER. In January 2021, Ledesma’s first full-length release on Psychic Liberation x Enmossed arrived after much experience in creating collaborative works, site-specific installations, and high-profile festival performances.

Over the past decade, Ledesma co-founded, directed, and supported various organizations focused on experimental sound and community engagement such as the Synth Library in Portland, OR, a lending library for electronic music equipment. Most recently Felisha co-founded Fors (fors.fm), creating "novel instruments that are elegant to use and adventurous in sound" in collaboration with Ess Mattisson and is studying sonic arts at Universität der Künste, Berlin.

Felisha Ledesma - Room13

Lucca is a singer, songwriter and producer from Berlin. The main element in her alternative pop productions is her angelic broken voice that she uses to build dark soundscapes. With vocal layers, simplistic piano patterns and electronic elements she takes listeners on deeply emotional journeys through her melancholic world.

She has had appearances in local clubs and Berlins famous cabaret theater (BKA) and has recently released her haunting self-produced debut track “Valerie”.

Lucca - Poison

FridaΨ (Zuzana Hamm) is a Berlin-based artist using synths, bass guitar, harp, vocals and field recordings for creating slow, sombre songs. Her musical influences range from darkwave and UK bass to post punk and experimental electronic music, but her main inspiration is both natural and urban environments as well as her own dark inner universe. In 2020, she released an EP ‘The Night’ where she captured moments of cold solitude and poetic observations through her melancholic viewfinder. Her latest release is ‘Dreamared’, an EP she recorded together with Bridget Feral as MOSST. FridaΨ has a monthly radio show called Forest District on the London-based Threads Radio and co-organizes Meetup Berlin, a monthly event for femme & LGBTQ* electronic music artists and DJs.

FridaΨ  - Inmates

Based between Berlin and Yaoundé, Elsa M’Bala aka A.M.E.T. is one of the rare female sound artists of African descent. By using technology as an empowering tool and through her own keen observations, she explores further the interconnections between race, gender, technology and spirituality. Her broad oeuvre varies from radio productions to live performances, as well as films and visual work. Elsa M’Bala performed and exhibited at IfA Galerie Berlin (DE); Casino Luxembourg-Forum d'art contemporain (LUX); Dak’Art Biennale (SEN); Les Brasseurs, Liège (BE), among others. Upcoming performances are at Gessnerallee, Zürich (CH), DEKOLONIALE Projektraum, Berlin (DE) and Halle Alte Feuerwache, Köln (DE). Since 2019 Elsa M’Bala also practices as a massage therapist.

AMET (Elsa M´Bala) - Erinnerung Süssauer

Anchoress is a project by Berlin based composer, singer and artist Anna Lucia Nissen. Anchoress understands music as a way to explore spaces beyond logical boundaries, creating a world that allows for connections on both an intellectual and emotional level. With a focus on vocal delivery she crafts arcane eulogies centered around her distinctively androgynous tenor howl. Anchoress' songs are cinematic in the way they reveal their narratives, and she considers song writing to be like scoring an imagined film. Accompanied by haunting strings, android choirs and swelling synthesizer drones, her vocals metamorphose into different characters. These lyrical protagonists are amalgamations of historical figures, feminist literature and observations of her surroundings telling stories about female anger, 21st century alienation and their yearning for new forms of collectiveness. Influenced by the experimental use of orchestral music of artists such as Scott Walker or Franco Battiato, Anchoress fuses elements of modern classical, dark post-industrial sounds and Gregorian chant into devotional hymns which collapse in on themselves to form uncanny ecstatic dirges.

Mona Yim
... is a music producer, singer-songwriter, DJ and violinist. Born and raised in the south of germany she has Singaporean-Chinese and German roots and is currently based in Berlin. While spending a lot of time in the clubs of London, Berlin and Paris she discovered her love for electronic dance music and started to DJ and play live-sets. Mona Yims musical style can be described as House and Techno with UK rave influences. Inspired by artists such as Yayoi Kusama, Haruki Murakami and David Lynch she explores topics such as female empowerment, the exploration of her own identity and mental health and creates stories with a slightly surrealistic touch.

Mona Yim - Feel So

Laure Boer combines the expected and the unexpected. As much music as ritual, performance as spell, Boer fittingly describes her sound as ‘witchtronic’. Out of sonic abstraction emerges a system of beat, chirrup and hum, then from nowhere a voice, singing or reciting in her native French. Coming from a musical family (her mother and father were opera singer and choir director, respectively), she directs her instruments–a sprawling table full of small wooden utensils, clattering metallic objects, and stringed artefacts–to perform, pushing them into strange shapes, odd contortions, and sometimes startling beauty. Boer also works extensively in the visual arts, and has collaborated with, among others, visual and performance artist Yan Gi Cheng, musicians such as Benjamin Geyer, Igor Titenko’s Radio Vostok, and San Diego’s SKRAPEZ, with whom she released a split 8” in late 2018. Recently the Musicboard Berlin granted Laure Boer for a two-month-residency in Manila hosted by WSK, in cooperation with CTM Festival and the Goethe-Institut.

Her classical compositions are deeply influenced by the avant-garde aesthetic, electronic music, Toaism and her Afro-Caribbean roots. Lamb Kebab is best known for their visceral vocal and rap performances. Their productions employ chaotic breakbeat patterns, elements of Bass and Booty with a twist of sadism through a playful arrangement of sample-based pattern making.  drawing inspiration from Giallo horror soundtracks and Dolly Parton, Lamb employs their lyrics as an exploration of amoral landscapes with topics ranging from abuse to teddy bears and sex work. Although relatively new to producing Lamb has cut out a niche for herself through collaborations with XVII, Imaabs, Reelle, Leo Luchini and AC with corresponding releases.

Lamb Kebab - Fake Cocaine

Xenia Taniko
... is a performer, choreographer and drummer based in Berlin. Their works speculate about the limitations of human embodiment and play with the societal norms that are inscribed in the body. Taniko uses body, voice, sound, props and costume to create affective, visceral and intimate performance pieces. On stage they explore disintegration of form through physical intensity and are interested in the potential of affect and emotion as a motor for creating new forms of knowledge and embodiment. Taniko’s solo and collaborative pieces have been presented in theatres, galleries and festivals in Berlin, Europe and the USA. Their artistic practice is deeply influenced by cultures of collaboration and invests in building alternate creative communities. Mostly in dance and visual art contexts, they work with various international artists as performer and collaborator. They also host regular Kundalini Yoga and Meditation Community Classes and are an Audiodescriber for blind and visually impaired audiences.

Xenia Taniko - Seventeen Floors

Mars Dietz is an artist, composer, and sound designer from Brooklyn living in Berlin. Their hybrid background involves site-specific installation, DJ sets, writing, music production and other media in an intensively research-driven practice bent on historical analysis.

Their 2018 sound installation Freedom From Speech focuses on the primacy of the voice and testimony in the legal construction of human rights, using the principles of DJing to create a pastiche of quotations from interviews and youtube videos on rights discourses and coerced confession, along with electronic music. In 2019, they presented the six-channel performance installation shred the means using granular synthesis, emulations of tinnitus, field recordings and the narrative of Nadezhda Kutepova, an environmental activist from a formerly secret nuclear production city in Russia. Mars performs as a DJ under the name Sapphic Faggot as a member of the Berlin party BODYSNATCH and elsewhere in Berlin and around Western Europe. Since 2019 Mars has worked as a sound artist for choreographers such as Emma Howes & Justin Kennedy, Maque Pereyra, Sandhya Daemgen, and Lyllie Rouviere.

Kloxii is a music producer and visual artist who crafts introspective soundscapes and visuals that questions character and being. Born in China, based in Berlin and Los Angeles, Kloxii’s sound draws from trip-hop, industrial, and Chinese pop from her formative years, rendering it all into glittery synths and hypnotic off-kilter vocals. Kloxii has debuted on Trip hop artist Tricky’s album ‘Test of Time’ with “Shades” (2019) on False Idol Records.

Drawing inspiration from a wide array of styles such as EBM, Jungle, Electro, Ambient and more, Kronick aims to create music that not only works the dancefloor but that also creates textural settings that trigger the listeners imagination and memory so they can impart their own story to the sounds around them.

Jon Kronick - Blood Of Venus

Andrée Burelli is an artist based in Berlin and Sardinia. She is an electronic music composer who has worked under the alias Bodyverse for a few years and who more recently has started to release her music under her legal name. She is an educated instrumentalist, whose practice focuses on sound synthesis and electroacoustic. She holds two master degrees in Fine Arts from the Universities of Granada and Basque Country, respectively. Her practice as a violinist, paintress and poet, influences her aesthetic in music. Burelli has released as Bodyverse five LP on physical format through Lontano Series, Rohs! Records and her own Sunrise Ruby Records, garnering positive reviews from Bandcamp Daily and Groove Magazine. Her most recent work as Andrée Burelli consists of a series of self released EPs that include her own audiovisual creations. Her upcoming LP on vinyl will be released on American Dreams Records in late 2020.

Sable is the solo electronic project of vocalist/producer Isobel Hambleton. Born in Manchester, Isobel's songwriting draws on the philosophical heritage of the skeptical, romantic post-punk bands of 1980s Northern England. This songwriting sparked a short-lived career as a pub folk singer. However, increasingly inspired by the lush electronic arrangements of artists such as Bon Iver, James Blake and, more recently, Grimes, Isobel began to teach herself electronic music production and relocated to Berlin. Combining a wide range of influences, her music is a reflection of a young woman trying to understand a complicated world.

Brad Nath is developing listening techniques that amplify the ways humans are terraforming Earth. His sound structures, live performances, music compositions and material research expose the sonic environments below the surface of the world we have built for ourselves. He began his research while studying to become an architect at Cornell University in New York by casting microphones within concrete, plastic and soil. He is currently enrolled in the Solo/Dance/Authorship MA at HZT in Berlin, where his works test new forms of empathy between humans and their environments.

Isa Holo - Take Some Waves Forward

MINQ is a Berlin-based DJ, sound artist, and cultural producer. With roots in the queer underground, their work is by and for queerdos, weirdos, freaks and geeks and draws from a multiplicity of movements and spheres including DIY ethos and punk aesthetics. A self-identified queer, Black music nerd, their creative process is fueled by the belief that music is a place of connection, to the self, others, and the world. From non-fiction to fantasy, MINQ’s work is a mode of storytelling – stories from the past, present, or future. Today they are curious in exploring ways in which music is omnipresent by using field recordings, vocal samples, peculiar analog machines and experimenting with audio collage, non-conventional rhythmic patterns and song arrangements.

Inspired by music and artists who unapologetically and boldy shake the system, MINQ also uses music as a mode of activism and enjoys being localized and interacting with the community and environment around them. Currently they are involved with the the Queer Black Therapy Fund, which is raising money provide access to Mental Health Professionals for people who identify as Black, of the African diaspora, and LGBTQIA+. They are also developing WE OUT HERE | A Moment of Black Tea, a docu-series exploring the lived experiences of Queer/Trans/Gender Non-Conforming, Black People living in Berlin.

Outside of their work, MINQ enjoys meditating, practicing yoga, going on long bike rides in and around the city, watching “She-Ra”, raising my happy plant family, rollerblading in Templehofer Feld, reading - especially Sci-Fi, writing - mostly journaling and writing poetry, DANCING! and cooking for their loved ones.

Sim Soledad is a black travesti, performer and DJ from Sao Paulo, based in Berlin. Her body moves through the different sounds inter-passing rhythms like Baile Funk, Vogue and contemporary dances. These connections develop nuances in her body's creative process as a performer and in her musical production. Co-founder the queer collective Chernobyl1 that caters to a BPOC and LGBTQIA+ audience in Brazil.

xanah operates as an interdisciplinary artist predominantly active in sound and performance and is currently based in Berlin, Germany. Coming from a rather traditional musical background and later on finding their fascination in electronic music and experimental art forms, xanah finds comfort in blending the best of both worlds. Their music combines modern tech perfection with the nature of basic human flaws and irrepressible thoughts and emotions.

xanah - Worth The Pain

Amplify Berlin is a residency program that provides emerging Berlin-based musicians with guidance, a focused work environment and access to resources in the form of month-long artist residencies driven by a mentorship approach to creative development.

Artists are invited to apply via an online open call process (occurring twice yearly) wherein they select which mentors they want to work with. The mentors then select from those applicants. During each one-month residency period, two selected artists receive feedback and advice from their mentor, are given access to a music studio with a range of equipment and software and are able to develop their live set in the ACUD Club’s concert space (both with the support of a technician). They are required to complete at least one track to be
shared online, contribute to a monthly radio show on Reboot.FM and at the end of the residency, they perform at a showcase event at ACUD Club, on a lineup alongside their mentor.
