With Soma, @eleaal present a seamless, deeply reflective EP that explores the intimate relationship between sound and silence. Born from the opening track of the same name, Soma became the catalyst for the creative journey that followed. At its core lies a central question posed through layered samples: “What is sound?”
Rather than treating sound and silence as opposing forces, the EP examines how they coexist—how silence can be found within sound itself. This theme runs like a red thread through the uninterrupted progression of tracks, forming a cohesive sonic narrative.
Referencing timeless explorations like Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence” and John Cage’s groundbreaking work with silence, Ele & Aal offer their own interpretation—less concerned with stillness, and more with silence as an experience embedded in sound.
More introspective and atmospheric than their previous releases, Soma is a free-form, artistic reflection—an immersive listening experience that invites contemplation, and gently challenges conventional boundaries in electronic music.

Born from autumn jam sessions in Norway and later shaped in Mexico, the track blends nostalgic instrumentals with dreamy synths and tender vocals. Inspired by the hummingbird’s stillness in motion, the remix drifts between forest and sky, weaving ethereal textures with mantra-like repetition. In the darkness of the new moon, when the celestial body completes its cycle and begins anew, we welcome I’m Mady (@immadyofficial) to the Phases collective with his debut EP Schwankschwindel. He offers us a sonic exploration of what it means to sway, oscillate, and find balance within perpetual motion.

Schwankschwindel — German for the sensation of oscillating vertigo, that feeling when the ground beneath you moves in rhythm — becomes a metaphor for the creative process itself. Just as the moon follows its eternal cycle, so too does the groove: repeating, evolving, transforming with each rotation.

I’m Mady’s signature sound is unmistakable. The EP’s two tracks form a perfect duality. The title track “Schwankschwindel” anchors us in that hypnotic sway — percussion patterns and woodwind textures creating a controlled vertigo, a purposeful imbalance that somehow grounds us deeper. Then comes “Sexy” — a harder-edged exploration where slow tech meets tech house attitude. Here, synthesized sound design takes the wheel, building tension through metallic textures and precise, driving rhythms.

The artwork mirrors this cosmic dance perfectly: lunar phases orbit a radiant celestial body, starbursts emanating energy outward while orbital mechanics keep everything in delicate, perpetual motion. It’s a visual representation of what I’m Mady achieves sonically — finding harmony in complexity, stillness in movement, balance in vertigo.

This is music for the space between cycles, for the moment when one rhythm ends and another begins.
