An established presence on the US East Coast, Angel Attack returns to House of Reptile with his EP New Frontiers. 
Following instinct instead of trends, these tracks display the Boston-based artist‘s leanings toward UK techno, electro, and experimental sounds.

Sonorous pads collide with gnarly drums and com- manding vocals, coalescing in a hazy but unsettling club cut, aka Angel Attack‘s crunchy take on Detroit techno..

On Blending emotional resonance with stinging claps, ‚Grounding‘ is an all-out UK breaks meets electro peak-timer, programmed with complex off-beat drums and Angel Attack‘s quintessential cinematic style.

‚Sharpening‘ is a shadowy offering of whispery vocals and haunting atmospheres; a tune for a pitch-dark dancefloor, wisps of smoke, moody lighting, and heaving bodies.

Silent Moon‘ goes deep into the raw techno subterranean. Pitched at 143 BPM, it‘s the paciest track on New Frontiers, with galloping drums, creepy chords and a dystopian lead.

Closing out the EP ‚Vortex‘ is an oddball amalgam of swooshing soundscapes, glitchy FX, and bleepy melodies. 
It‘s an intricate tapestry of weird and wonk, teetering towards the edge of danger—an aesthetic that comes naturally in Angel Attack‘s approach.

DIG CURATED the infamous four of this EP in an omnivorous fashion, allowing vinyl
wizard Louis the 4th to take us on a ride of stylistic adventure between old and
new-school techno wickedry.

Olivia Mendez (the curator behind this EP) picked these gems according to the way
she would build her sets; each track corresponding to a distinct part of a blazing
journey. Each track being a different color on a powerful, vibrant palette, attesting to
the versatility of an artist whose emblem is anonymity - remember Detroit? - and
reinvention. The man behind the bandana doesn't shy away from paying homage to
the old school while at times enveloping us into a computerized sound chaos - classy
as it is.

This selection reveals a side of LTF that hasn't been shown before, catching the ears
of a great number of peeps, who could easily find their match here.

Dilatation is a chugging techno zinger, with a groove that feels minimal yet keeps
expanding through punctured breaks and urging synth enveloped into a sustained
air- a kind of tool that mounts the energy to near combustible.

Almost there decompresses space into a light-weight, energy saver atmosphere, that
fleshes out a brand-new compartment in LTF`s music wallet. Threaded through
driving rides and a rhythmic zeal, it wobbles gently between sustain and release.

On the flip side, Kurrikulum Vitae flexes LTS mechanics, with rascal shifts in a
groove that feels simultaneously ancient and totally new, amassing a depth of
textures and tones towards a skanking peak.

999 seals the deal with multilayered distortions enveloped into ghostly undertones
and reverbing crunches, half-step of being a techno-artefact and a dazzling sound
puzzle, made of a loopy melody edging towards poise.

ANTIDOTE Premiere: Gotshell - Contemplaciones [KR061]

‘Intertwined’, the first collaborative EP by Paraíso founders @mariaamoramormaria & @shcuro, is up next on the decade-old Lisbon label. This pair of syncopated, energized, immersive techno tracks comes with remixes by Tresor residents Fireground and DC’s own Black Rave Culture, a trio composed of James Bangura, Amal, and Nativesun.

‘Waves of Hope’ opens the record in full force with a relentless beat that combines early 90s euphoric energy and jacked-up snares over a fat bassline, soulful pad progressions, technoid bleeps, dubby washes, and Maria Amor’s own soothing cut-up vocals, elegantly touching several foundational club music sounds through an inspired lens.

On the A2, ‘Hotspring Love’ brings levitating, airy textures and mixes them with subtle acid arpeggios, pure-hearted vocal melodies, and bouncy percussive accents. The rolling subwoofers of a proper techno party can practically be seen, the fast-paced kick perfectly perforating the bassline.

Two remixes can be found on the B-side: first up is Berlin-based @fireground_r12, who flip the original ‘Waves of Hope’ into a more concise take, exploring its dub influences and adding in cinematic, ravey chord progressions to a hypnotizing, ecstatic effect. The italian duo add a distinct dose of Neapolitan techno, carrying the textured intensity of that unmistakable sound.
@black-rave-culture pick up ‘Hotspring Love’ and turn it into an ode to junglism, reappropriating the original pads in a classic DnB workframe with crisp breakbeats and an absolutely nasty bassline that no words can do justice to.
