For its last release of 2023, When We Dip XYZ is proud to present a three track remix pack of Motip White’s ‘Clean the Turbines’ EP. 

Kicking things off is Atish, chopping and pitching Motip White’s vocal from ‘What Do You Want Me to Say.’ The Manjumasi label-boss complements the track with a rolling bassline, glitches hitting left, right, and centre, and the gritty bass fills from the original. 
 
Also taking on ‘What Do You Want Me to Say,’ Gespona & Djolee craft huge percussion rolls and manipulate White’s layers and textures. The two artists, who have just launched their own label ‘Rummel,’ leave room for the memorable hook halfway through, which then recedes in favour of the heavy drums. 

Third up is Meera with her take on ‘Clean the Turbines.’ Faithful to her style, which has recently been showcased on VOD and Crosstown Rebels, she opposes a subby kick with a tempest of hats & shakers, harmonically guided by a light piano. The Norwegian producer keeps on building the energy, surprisingly introducing her own vocals and an acid layer on the arp as the tune unfolds.

"Solace"… man, my first ever track. It kinda just tumbled out of me after I got completely obsessed with Adriatique's sound and Rivo's whole vibe. But you know what's funny? It actually all started with Rüfüs Du Sol, Adriatique, and Rivo giving me the initial spark. 

But the real gateway drug into this whole music world for me was the Keinemusik crew – Adam Port, &ME, and Rampa. Those three characters? They were the ones who first blew my mind with Afro House. 

I was hooked for a while, just listening. Then Adriatique and Rivo came along, and that's when things really clicked. Their sound was just… wow. So unique. I could hear all these different worlds in one track, definitely Afro House at its core, but then this beautiful Melodic House layer, and even hints of Melodic Techno. That’s when I was like, Whoa... If I tried to make something, maybe it could actually be something I could be proud of. And that's where the excitement and all the ideas for this track just flooded in. 

Seriously, I went into making "Solace" knowing absolutely zero about music production, just as a total fan, you know? But something just pushed me to be brave and take that leap into trying to make my own music. It’s got this afro house feel that just makes you wanna move, but then there's this warm, deep melodic house thing going on too. 

Think about those Adriatique sets that just take you somewhere else that's the trip I was hoping "Solace" would be. It’s got a beat that’s not too crazy but still gets you going, and these melodies… I really poured my heart into them, like a chill little escape when things get hectic. Being my first go at this and all, created from pure passion and a bit of a fanboy moment, 'Solace' is kinda my way of saying a massive thanks to all the music that’s moved me. 

It’s way more than just a song to me; it's like an invite to find some peace in the energy, a friend when you're flying solo, and hopefully just the start of a ton more stories I wanna tell through music. I really hope "Solace" hits you in the feels the same way all this incredible music hits me. 

"Solace" itself carries a beautiful and significant meaning. At its heart, solace means comfort or consolation in a time of distress or sadness. It's about finding a sense of peace, relief, or even just a moment of quiet calm when things are tough, overwhelming, or you're feeling down.

Think of it like a gentle hand on your shoulder, a warm hug on a cold day, or a quiet corner where you can gather your thoughts. Solace isn't necessarily about fixing the problem, but more about providing a sense of emotional ease and support amidst the difficulty.

Perhaps the music itself was born from a time when i were seeking comfort, or maybe i created it hoping it would offer that feeling to others. The blend of the energetic afro house with the warmer melodic house and techno could represent finding a peaceful center within a vibrant and moving soundscape.

as My first track, I naming it "Solace" could represent the comfort and purpose i found in the act of creating music itself, especially as someone new to the process. It might be the "solace" i found in taking that brave step into a new world.

that's why I mentioned it being an "invitation to find some peace in the energy." This directly links the title to the intended emotional impact of the music on those who listen.

So, beyond just being a word, "Solace" carries a weight of emotional meaning – it speaks to finding comfort, peace, and a sense of ease, often in challenging times. It's a powerful and resonant word, making it a thoughtful choice for My first track.
