Beirut is an American band fronted by 23-year-old Santa Fe, New Mexico native Zachary Francis Condon.

We love their debut album, Gulag Orkestar.
The music combines elements of Eastern European and Balkan folk with Western pop music, fusing the American mainstream and indie-rock culture and the World Music market.
Its the sort of music that makes you want to raise a tankard and get country dancing to.

We chased Zak across the VIP area of Coachella festival for this interview.

Theu have collaborated with artists including Neneh Cherry, DJ Gram’Ma Funk, Sophie Barker, Nappy Roots, Fudge Dog, Sunshine Anderson, Mutya Buena, Jeru The Damaja and Richie Havens. 
Groove Armada made the music for an advert for bacardi recently, Amy and Susan feature in that video, wey hey!

Róisín Murphy is one of our idols. 
An Irish singer-songwriter and music producer. 
She was in one of our old skool classic loves Moloko. 
Her debut solo album Ruby Blue, written and produced with Matthew Herbert, in 2005. 
Her second solo album Overpowered was released in 2007. 
Theres a new single, "Demon Lover", coming soon! 
The third album is coming and she says "it has a slightly London sound to it, it's a bit more urban and bass-ey than Overpowered". 
Exciting! 
On December 15th 2009, Roisin gave birth to her first child, a baby girl 'Clodagh Henwood' Murphy.

This Sunday was a big day for London cyclists.  It was the closing party of a week of bike based films and events for the London Bicycle Film Festival 2009.  There was a film showing at Corbet Place; Cities In The Dark (a series of bicycle powered events with films based in London and Uganda) and a great vibe with fixed gear, BMXers, bike poloers and anyone who enjoys getting about London on 2 wheels.
